I love that M2 but wouldn't do it based on what you're used to. My last DD was an F10 M5, and I loved that too--winter and all. I think a daily should have some size to it and four doors. I value convenience. But I'm narrow-minded when it comes to this sort of stuff. But I say give it a try if you feel strongly. Good luck!

Ya. If you need to drive more than one person, four doors is key, long wheelbase even better. I say that sitting at a stop light in my super V8 jag.

Just did not know how the M2 would do in the snow. Granted- we do not get as much snow here in Chicago like some would think though.
I love my M2, only real BMW left. Manual is fun as well. I drive the crap out of mine, put some blizzaks in the winter and drive it all year long in Michigan. Great daily, suspension isn't too forgiving for crappy Michigan roads though .

Any generation M5 is a better DD than the M2 CP. And I say that as avid fan of the M2.

I think the M2C to M5 is a massive jump in comfort but they’re pretty far apart dynamically. My vote is for the M3. It has more tire than the M2C and the interior with full leather is 2 classes above the M2C. They’re both sporty and quick and while the M5 is fast, having driven it aggressively I’d say it feels huge in comparison.

I agree, but it is a pretty good car for the money.

My daily is my Touring until I need a lot of room, then it’s the Range Rover.

I currently have a current gen E63S, G63, and 991.2 GT3RS with manual 991.2 GT3 incoming. I find myself over the past 2 years (that I have had it) loving driving the G63 around as it feels like a tank and gives a sense of occasion to my boring work commute and running around town with my daughter. The driving position makes you feel like king of the road and the terrible steering and handling also add an element of character to my boring daily drive. That being said I get the entire other sense of occasion from the GT3RS which fills the sporty weekend blast. While the E63S is SO FAST and sounds pretty good / very comfortable it just does not provide me the same enjoyment that the G and GT3 do. Again this is just my opinion as I find sedans quite boring for daily driving and now having had a SUV will only daily one for the foreseeable future... Have an incoming 2019 G63 next month which should be a nice blend of the luxury and comfort of the E63S with the driving position and sense of occasion of the G63.

I think you will miss the back seat of 5 series. Have you thought about Macan as DD? I've cycled through a number of different DDs and landed there. Small, fits 5, fun to drive, good build quality.

Just picked up a Stelvio Quadrifoglio as my DD, but haven’t driven it as yet because I am on ED picking up my Lizard RS

it it was a rocket on the two long test drives I did and had great handling, steering, braking for a 4000 lb SUV.

tons of Turbo Cayans and Macans, AMG’s, BMW X3/5’s and Audi SUV’s where I live and just wanted something different to every soccer mom in the neighborhood.

nothing against the M5, but I love my M6gc. I am waiting for the new m8gc and will probably switch to it.

I was in your position last month. I picked up a F90

M5 and I couldn't be happier. The car is laughably fast! The transmission is fantastic.. In general it's worlds better than the previous two generations to me.

Thanks for evey one's input. My Wife reminded me that she some times needs to drive my DD and She can not drive a Manual. Slight oversight on my part

I told her I could teach her but She sick of my car flips

Robby- I think you may be trolling me

I bought a Cayenne S E-Hybrid as a DD. And couldn't be happier. Still plenty zippy and I get 57mpg to boot.
