GT3 vs. GT4 - Can only have 1

i went from a GT4 to a 991.1 GT3. i had owned a 997.2 GT3 (which selling her is my biggest life's regret)
why?
-wanted to go back to a 911 body and handling characteristics
-wanted 9000rpm redline
-wanted a faster car
some folks may feel this was a lateral move or slight downgrade due to the absence of a manual. but I am happier. GT4 is a great car. Lotsa fun, but I was always left wanting alittle more power.

Got the gt4 for the last 2 years.. 22000km and a lot of fun around Italy and Europe ... Sold for a fair price to my dealer and bought a new manual gt3 with a good discount... Driven it for 5000 km in the last 5 months.... The gt3 is another story ... The engine is from a different league... No regrets for me

If they make a GT4rs that would be hard to decide that with my current GT3 touring.
These cars has high resale. Id say order a new 718 GT4 now then trade in for 992 gt3. If you like the GT4 better just go back. Life is too short don't miss out and enjoy both if you can afford.

GT3.
Had a GT4, and moved to a Carrera. NO regrets, as the GT4 was a great car and a great daily, though I have to say the allure faded in time—probably due to a powertrain that was neither terribly exciting nor well geared. If 991.2 GT3 was in the budget—and had back seats—it woulda been the one. Still my dream (new) 911.

What Stout said.
I did 12k in mine before I sold it. Fantastic car. In a world where a GT3 didn't exist, you could be happy with it forever. But the GT3 does exist and it is substantially better. If I had to have one...well, i currently own a 991 GT3 variant.
If they ever do put the GT3 engine in a GT4, that is the car I would change course for. Currently, though, it's just a dream

GT3 by a mile. If you go for the GT4, it won't be long before the GT3 will start to haunt your thoughts lol. You're keeping it for 10-20 years so just go with the best you can comfortably afford.

If money is no object I'd think of 3 aspects : manual transmission, handling characteristics and engine.
1) If you want a manual you've already eliminated the 991.1 GT3. If you want the most modern technology with a warranty you've eliminated older 996/997 GT3s(which are both an absolute joy!)
2) GT3 still retains the older 911 rear engine characteristics, especially when pushed close to the limit. Overall, the platform is much more refined : less understeer, less front axle lightness, less steering communication(although very good for an electric system). The Rear wheel steering plays its part as well.
GT4-more neutral at the limit, the chassis is excellent, very communicative, the interior feels more intimate, the car feels lighter, definitely more forgiving.
3) Engine GT3 hands down! Although the GT4 sounds better at lower RPMs...nothing an exhaust can't fix...
So,in my opinion :
1) Manual transmission no question about it! Both really good, better clutch feel on the GT4.
2) I prefer the rear engine handling characteristics.
3) GT3 hands down.
Overall,I'd take the GT3.

Of course the 2 year newer GT3 at twice the price sounds better! The real question is GT3 or GT4 + ~$75k + dealer ADM $? For sure the GT4 is the better value but I get the sense this isn't a value question......
FWIW, I love my GT4. When the offer came up for a 991.2 I passed, couldn't see value in the roughly $90k cost to upgrade to a similar spec GT3 w dealer ADM.
