Default PDK Regret

Given many of us did not have a chance to drive one or both before buying, do any PDKers regret not getting manual? Just curious - I'll be the first to admit there is a grass is greener mentality here.

No regret as I could shift it via the stick or paddles with my brain making the decision to change gears just as with a manual box.

Same as Mooty. I want a Touring PDK with Sofas for daily driver. Stick sucks in traffic and buckets aren't fun for long trips to me. Hopefully 992 will have a touring PDK.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that I grew up driving stick... so I don't really miss it. But I do love PDK... super quick response and enables full level of performance on the GT3. I also believe it to be safer on such a powerful car... hands are always on the wheel and the equipment is "idiot" proof... I understand the apparent appeal of the manual for a "drivers/purist" experience... However, I don't buy it totally... I am one that believes we should evolve and adapt and the PDK is one of the best pieces of engineering that there is. With that said I am with the minority on this one and that is ok.

I would never buy another Porsche with a manual transmission.

Too boring.

Traffic is so bad where I live, where manual would be a pain in the ***. I love rowing gears on open road but if it takes me two hours to get there. It’s nice to have the PDK for the majority of my driving.

Dang, you guys are comforting lol. Was starting to second guess myself after getting asked by my s2k buddies why no manual all the time. Maybe I need new friends. Hopefully OP feels the same. Was tired of traffic and paying for a slower version of the car

I enjoy maximum performance and the most modern technology - F1, Indy car, imsa etc. I’ve had manual transmissions on most of my cars, such as m3, 996 TT, 997 TT, but I prefer PDK with paddle shifting on 991 GT3

I like manual, s2000, 996gt3, 997gt3, CGT, 964, 993, G body, long hood.
I just don't like the manual in 991.2 GT3 and to lesser extent I also don't like manual in GT4.
that's just me.
and I am not logical.

Had a manual C4S and had been tracking it for many years. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Ordered my GT3 as a PDK. Regrets? No way. Absolutely love it. Front straight at Road America you go from 2nd gear to 6th gear, and I gain a car length on manual cars as they shift, ultimately passing them. Turn 1 same track you brake hard, and PDK seamlessly downshifts sequentially to 2nd, engine braking all the way, holds 2nd for the turn in, then upshifts to 3rd as you exit. Unless you are exceptionally good, manual cars skip a gear or two downshifting, cannopt downshift to second as they will run out of rpms mid corner so they stay on 3rd. Advantage PDK pretty much everywhere!
