For those that ordered GT3 touring (Congrats BTW) with OEM Porsche script maybe you can help with 2 questions.
1. Is the vinyl glossy or matte?
2. Are you able to PPF directly over?
Thanks in advance.

Went trough this with my PPF install. removing the decals then PPF and reapply decals. PPF over the decals causes an uneven surface creating an air pocket. PPF over the decals will give it a gloss look, decals over the PPF give it a matte look. BTW my shop had to order my decals and may take two weeks to arrive.

My preferred option after trying others is to cut the PPF and leave the decals uncovered. Looks a but smoother all round and they give the paint some protection.
If in a high impact area I will cover the decals. No air bubbles/ issues if your installer knows what they're doing and I want to protect the factory decals. Might need to replace it on film removal but I never keep my cars long enough....

My detailer did paint correction, full PPF, and ceramic coating. PPF over the OEM side decals. No bubbles. OEM Touring decals are glossy anyways, I think.

1. Motorsport Stripes via CXX is highly customizable. They use 3M vinyl from the 100 series. Most of the colours are glossy but there are a couple satin/ matte colours in that series (I used matte black for instance).
2. I would not recommend taking your OEM ($$) stripes off to accommodate PPF on your paint (the vinyl will be deformed during removal ( at best)) and it’s near impossible to achieve the perfect (parallel) alignment between the stripes when it’s time to remount the decal.
If going with OEM stripes and you are interested in PPF your most reasonable option is to put the ppf over the stripes which leads to a ‘halo’ around the stripes (more noticeable with the thicker/ less flexible films).
or you can cut the film along the boarders of the stripes which to me would call even more attention to that area and is associated with a higher degree of difficulty to apply.
For the most OE look with PPF you’re better off going aftermarket (weird). And don’t wrap the fender edges! My installer chickened out at the last minute and didn’t want to cut on my car, I was disappointed at first but now I quite like the wrapped edges. For my OCD I then put a strip of ppf on top of the stripes in the areas in the wheel well.
Sorry for the long-winded reply. But I’ve spent a lot of time mulling over this subject, the above info was relayed to me after discussion with my PPF installer.

The smart-money, doesn't lay $2k for /3MIN vinyl from Porsche which then has to be taken off to properly apply PPF. Get your car, then apply PPF, then pay $100 for the exact same PORSCHE script from one of many good vendors out there. Not to mention it's a seriously satisfying project to complete in an Austrian village, I highly recommend it.![Name: photo909.jpg
