"practical" GT3 replacement
#33
Thanks for all the ideas.
The M2 competition sounds like a nice option the Audi and VW look cool too but I'm not so sure all wheel drive will be as much fun.
I think I'm limited to something new or certified at a dealership as I just want to trade in the GT3 I don't want to deal with selling it privately.

Practical:
GTR (the Nissan one), RS3, C63 4.0TT (and C63S) and M2, nothing else. Alfa? check the waiting list to get to the service bay (same with Maserati), makes Kia feel reliable. All current M cars are the worst ever, except the M2 (have yet to drive the M2C).
Practical and Cheap:
Golf GTi/R, Civic Type R, WRX STi Type RA, Camaro 1LE (4cyl, 6cyl or 8cyl). Mustang if you can live with the inflated price on the Shelby and the horrid interior and ergonomics.
991, 997 and anything 911 is not practical, practical needs trunk space, true rear seats, easy access, but for anyone that would consider a 911 practical, the one is the AWD 911 Turbo (993, 996, 997, 991, your pick).

I am surprised folks are suggesting GT350/R as a replacement to GT3. Ive driven a 991.1 GT3 and had a GT4 (front end perspective). There's no comparison. Different car altogether in my opinion. So if the aim is to replace with something completely different, then good choice. GT350 is a great car (ignore interior and panel fit) and was surprised at its track capability.

If you trade GT3, you will lose a little of the tax benefit if the car you buy is less than what you paid for the GT3....I bought a CPO Turbo S trading my GT3 and the tax money carried over because the price paid was about equal...in my case a $12,000 benefit.....
