I don't know why, but looked at that picture, I kinda feel sorry for this guy. I really wonder what set him down this bad path.
As the saying goes, he will get his date in court.

Get a call one day from my boss letting me know our Loss Prevention team was coming in to interview him. And they don't do that unless they have hard evidence and a made case.
He had crafted a scheme where he would return a "shipping charge" with no receipt. Shouldn't have been able to do this, but he'd figured it out by accident. He would put the returned amount on a gift card, order product online, and then sell the things he bought. Over $40k. And one of the things they found was that he never once pulled this while I was in the building. In his eyes, that would have been betraying my trust. It all started very small and when no one noticed, it got bigger.
Not saying it's even remotely the same as what happened at Champion. But it does usually start small and escalates. It's not like you just go big. Small, incremental steps over the line. Justify it. Repeat.
I don't feel sorry for the guy that worked for me. And I don't feel sorry this guy. I understand the progression logically, but feel no sympathy to him for his choices.

Feel sorry for his victims and his 10 kids who didn't have a choice who their father was.
This guy has a history. This isn't a one time "mistake" ....

On approximately September 10, 2018, Champion's civil attorney was in contact with Sookralli and asked him if he had taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from Champion customers. Sookralli responded something to the effect of, "More like millions.'' Sookralli was then asked to send the attorney a list of customers who had sent Sookralli money, so the customers could be accounted for and potentially repaid. Shortly thereafter, also on or around September 10, 2018, Sookralli emailed Champion's attorney a list of approximately 30 customers who he had taken deposits from .
