After 3 months of ownership, I finally got some time today to have my first decent drive in my 996 GT3 RS. I have just been too busy with business and other cars to give it much time...plus it has spent some time in the garage getting a new setup and all the underside ice-blasted. It is now like new.
Man this is one sweet car. I am a bit shocked at how good it is. The steering, gear change and throttle response all work together beautifully. I only wish it was bit louder and maybe rode a bit better. This could very quickly become my favourite car.
Both are beautiful . The size difference is striking.
That size difference (4 inches in length) is nothing compared to the difference between my .2GT3 and my 1973 911 (parked side by side in my garage). It really is strikingly bigger in all dimensions.
One of only, but consistent complaints about the 996gt3/RS is the exhaust note. And from what I understand, the standard sw/rss/GMG bypass solutions aren't available for a 996. What is the consensus for getting a better exhaust note/volume on a 996?
I would LOVE to try that 996RS! Congrats on two fantastic rides...and maybe a 3rd with that MB in the background.
Thanks. Yes, the MB in the background is mine too.
With respect to RS's, I am on a life path to progressively own every RS. With the 964 RS, 996 RS, 997.2 RS and 991.2 RS already in the garage, Chapter 1 is done. Chapter 2 is whole lot a harder. Still to go is the 2.7, 3.0, 964 3.8 and 993.....but given the prices of these...I am not sure I will ever get there. One can dream.
