Default Forgeline CF201 – track use?

Just wondering if anyone has used the Forgeline CF201 for track use on their 991.1/2 GT3’s?

(amateur club track days, nothing serious)

If so, how do they stand up to the abuse?

Researching lightweight options however I noticed “not for track use” disclaimer in the fine print for the CF201’s

Thanks in advance

If you're going for lightweight track use Forgelines, I would suggest the GS1R. Know several people who have them on their GT3 and swear by them.

Proper wheels for the track, no doubt.

Thanks for the replies. How much do the GS1R weigh? I am having problems locating wheels weights for forgelines-- apparently they don't publish weights?.

My question about the CF201's -- because i have an opportunity to acquire a set of those wheels at a keen price, however i don't see much evidence of them being used in the wild.

I was considering BBS FR-I also

GS1R is a great wheel. But the GE1R (only available in centerlock) is designed specifically for centerlock cars like the GT3/GT3RS. They weigh about the same, and are 30% stiffer for better stability under threshold braking.

We have both in stock and sell the GE1R about 3:1 to the GS1R for the GT3/GT3RS.

Let us know how we can help

GS1R and GA1R are both available as either 5 lug or centerlock. They look almost identical as well. The GS1R was further refined from the GA1R to further lighten the wheel (via additional material machining) with no reduction in strength rating.

We have them in stock for both GT3/RS and GT4.

ok, got it...I went on the Forgeline website and it only showed GS1R as 5 lug, unless you wanted some $2,200 conversion kit?

Alan C, has Forgeline CF205s on his GT4. He does track his car occasionally. I would hit him up for more details.

The main reason the Carbon+Forged wheels were not designed for track use is that the debris that gets caught in between the caliper and the inner rim shell(rubber with stones attached) will deeply scratch the finish. On an aluminum wheel, it just leaves a small scratch or rubber mark, but on a carbon barrel a stone can impeded itself and get dragged all the way around the barrel. When we eventually design motorsports Carbon+Forged wheels, they will come with a very tough ceramic coating to protect it from such damage. Unfortunately that coating covers up the beautiful carbon fiber inner barrel or we would apply this all the wheels. In addition, knowing we were not promoting the CF line for motorsport use, our main focus was making the wheels lightweight and beautiful, and not a brutally strong and stiff motorsport wheel which adds weight and limits design. Our motorsport CF wheels will obviously check those boxes as well when we develop them.
