That is the right way.

That is interesting because I was at Road America this weekend watching the IMSA race and spoke with several people about this and there were quite a bit of mixed opinions. The long straights at RA are the great equalizer. No matter what, if a street car can get within a couple of seconds of a Cup car, I believe that is ridiculous. My goal was to test cars that we all know and some of us lucky to own and put them on a track that many have driven so we can not only gauge the cars but how we stack up against them. Both David Murry and PCA have gotten behind this so we have two noteworthy sponsors! Let the games begin!!!

There is no question how impressive the new gt2rs is, and you're right a couple seconds is even more impressive. Back when I was club racing and doing Grand Am, there were a few guys with 996gt2s with the wicks turned up who were running pretty damn close to cup cars...never forgot how insane my one friends 650 ish, 2800 lb ish (he took a lot of **** out, almost was bare inside) Gt2 was.

What tires will the Cup run? And the 2RS on OEM Cup2 N2?

It's going to be an interesting test. The acceleration should be greater in the GT2RS but the braking should be better in the Cup, will it be enough to compensate for the acceleration advantage? We will put the same SmartyCam in each car stand alone so we will have video along with speed, G's, and lap time. I will also put my old SmartyCam in the car which will record data that we can download so we can overlay each cars lap. We'll have a detailed answer of who's faster and where.

Steve, your CUP have ABS?
Can we list some lap times for the2014 CUP?
-Ring:________ GT3RS__7:15?_GT2RS___6:50?__14CUP_______
-Spa:_________GT3RS__2:38?_GT2RS______?There was an event last week with a ton of GT2RS, laptimes should be knows? 14CUP_________
-Sebring:______GT3RS__2:16?_GT2RS __2:10?__14CUP________
-Road America_ GT3RS__2:18?_GT2RS__2:15?__14CUP_________

All fast tracks, maybe we can calculate the lap time delta per linear track mile?

Not ultimate ideal weather lap records but what a Pro typically can run on an average day in a stock car?
Just curious how that compares to a 991.1GT3RS, as that's as well know lap time for all tracks and for the Ring and Spa we have GT2RS laptimes.

I think the Ediff, PTV, E-diff, SC and TC could give an edge to the GT2RS as well.
Its going to go flying up the hill to Start / Finish!

What's the date??

RA is the perfect track for the GT2 RS. That front straight is huge. The straight going under the bridge is long too. Not to mention the long back straight. I would not be surprised at all if the GT2 RS is quicker.

991.1 Cup:

- Road America: 2:11.87

- Sebring: 2:06.44

Times from GT3 Challenge Cup so not pro drivers but about as fast as it gets for amateurs.

And FWIW, Gen II Cup was about 2.5 secs quicker (2:03.97) around Sebring in the same qualifying session.

If the cup is on Michelin slicks I dont think there is any possible way the GT2RS is close on street tires. Slap a set of R7s on the GT2RS and now we have a close race.

If power-to-weight ratio is a factor then my money is on the GT2RS.

2014 GT3 Cup: 5.75 lbs per HP
2019 GT2RS: 4.63 lbs per HP

Couple the above with the long straight at RA and things are looking pretty good for the GT2RS!

Cup has 18% weight advantage according to factory specs - suspect it’s greater - which helps with braking, cornering, and drive off corner, plus it has better brakes and slicks. It’ll be close; less so if it was Gen II Cup, which is the fairer comp.

True, however the GT2RS has 52% more horsepower and more importantly 58% more torque which helps everywhere else...should be interesting!! Slicks vs. street tires is certainly an equalizing factor if not the determining factor, given how close many of us expect this to be!
