US manual for GT3.2 says 2,000 miles and keep it under 4K rpm. I did not adhere to that lol. Couldn't help myself.

I find it interesting that there is a difference between ROW and USA break in recommendations. Why? ROW has better drivers and less likely to abuse cars? ROW owners keep cars rather than flip them? USA is more litigious, so PAG gives itself more room to go "AHA! Your fault."? Hmmmm.........

The warranty period is twice as long in US - wonder if that's a factor? Most likely scenario is that the language in US is not GT3-specific. Just same as all the other models, while the ROW one seems to have GT3-specific numbers...

Thanks for posting this.

Good. I'm glad it's relaxed.

2k mile break in is just way too long.

I never have. Just get oil to operating temp, hit full range of RPM without getting arrested, change oil after first 400 miles, take to the track (so I don’t have to worry about getting arrested), change oil again and brake fluid, buy new set of tires. Repeat.

With a new car, the moving parts must first be run into each other.

This requires the first 3000kms (991 gt2 rs) and 1,500 km (911 g3 rs, 991 gt3) respectively. The oil and fuel consumption can be higher than the normal values during this time.

Drive during the break in period as follows:
  • Preferably drive longer journeys.
  • Often avoid cold starting in combination with kory rides if possible.
  • Avoid high speeds of more than 4,000 revolutions per minute (911 gt2 rs) and 7,000 revolutions per minute (911gt3 rs, 911gt3) respectively.
  • With a cold engine drive with lower speeds.
I hit the track at 1,450 Kms and then did 300 Kms..

I tried to find that in German user manual for GT3 Touring.
It is 4000rpm and 3000 kms

I'm at 2,300 miles. Haven't changed the oil. I think that's overkill as well. Will change oil after my first track day in September. I've talked to a few Porsche-specific race shops in my area and they all said oil change so early is overkill.

Would be interesting to use this (I have one) and see what you find after a long interval first change. If you find nothing (or nearly nothing), an early change would be overkill...

When cutting open a filter, it important to do so cleanly (this thing does) so you don’t introduce filter case particles that could me mistaken for engine debris...

I asked all the shops about that as well. They said they've done oil testing with labs and all that and they've never seen anything out of the ordinary. But cutting oil filter open to have a look isn't a big deal so maybe I'll have a look.

I used to adhere to all that bs: promptly got into my new 2RS and ripped it down the highway!

Just checked my manual (GT3 Touring) and it's the same here in Australia. I can't wait that long...
