Why are you guys not just disconnecting at the solenoid instead of fiddling with the vacuum hoses?

because it’s harder to get to

I will go for the "connector solution" If nothing else because I like to fiddle with the car, getting to know it a bit closer, and also making use of my newly bought Kamasa tool chest

And, what about the people who have disconnected the line and not plugged it with a screw. That would be a large but continuous leak. What is the effect on the vacuum pump. What is the real life effect on anything else.

Seems like you can:
1. remove the line, plug it, re attach the line
2. remove the line, plug it, leave line dangling (or ziptied)
3. remove the line, don't plug it, leave line dangling (or ziptied)
4. remove both ends of the line
5. disconnect the connector at the solenoid

Will all of these produce the same result? Are some of these methods better than others, and why?

Did someone try to get the connector off on a Touring? I spent some time with the car today, but in order to be able to loosen the ECU (to get access to the connector, I would have to remove the whole rear wing assembly... I did try to remove a number of bolts but I stopped when it looked like I have the disassemble the whole rear bumber. I am not brave enough yet... Is there another way?

Sounds like a pain in the butt compared to the 5 minutes it takes to plug the vacuum hoses. And remember if you don’t like it, you’d have to do it all over again to reverse it...

btw i drove my car more since plugging the hoses and I have to say that I like it a lot now (was disappointed initially because I expected more). It’s a worthwhile mod imo

Yeah, I know...

When plugging the hoses, were you able to keep the clip intact after pulling the hose off the valve?

Is it in the same location as the RS in the link above? If so, can you reach it without loosening the ECU bracket? I was able to do so, but I have scrawny little arms. Maybe enlist some child labour to help you.

Here is a video that shows what you need to do. It’s very simple. No need to over complicate this mod.

Another option:

Yes, same location. And no way I could get a hand or arm past the ECU... Yes, child labour it is, or maybe go with the proposed solutions down by the valves themselves. Right now that seems easier.

So, I just went the "plugging" route. I couldn't get the clamp off the hose end without having to break it, so the "stopper screw" was dia 5mm. 6mm was impossible with the clamp in place. But even with 5mm it gave a reasonable resistance when screwing it into the hose, so I hope it will be air tight. I then re-positioned the hose onto the valve. Job done. Max 10 min in total.

The test drive gave the expected result - a much more linear sound experience. Although I can understand what some one said above - the car can first be perceived as being more quiet, without the huge sound transient at 3800-4000rpm. But it isn't, and this is so much better.

Yeah I’m leaving mine plugged but will be adding a center muffler bypass for more noise

I actually agree that the car could do with even more "open" sound. It still feels too muffled. In that sense the exhaust in my CGTS was better - more open, more "accessible", if you see what I mean.

I am not sure that I would dare to go all the way to a center muffler delete. I would probably not even be let into the parking lot on most of our tracks here...

I find the GT4 sounds better stock-for-stock driving around (at anything but WOT at high rpm for the GT3). Do you agree?
