@Mike
991-341-263-98 is the latest version apparently. I guess you are now sitting on a very valuable used part especially once the line is repaired!

Feel better, ... almost like you got a deal?

sorry this happened to you
Okay, I'll play TOP THIS. My friend had a 2001 360 Spider. The top wouldn't go up. So he forced it up and broke an aluminum extrusion. Ferrari doesn't make that single part and said the entire top mechanism had to be purchased. $63K. Needless to say he didn't bite. Took many months before he found a machine shop in Florida to make the part. A couple hundred dollars later he was back on the road.

Mike,

Holly Rat Crap

Did your Home Owner's Insurance Policy or Auto cover it??.

Maybe, in rhe end, if you do not use the Lift too much not worth getting???- especially when out of warranty it will cost you too much

Also- was the car s itting forever or the rat went for many rides

You’re not alone, this has been happening for a few years on VW cars, it’s due to the new soy based wires and tubes/lines. Genius Engineers at it again...

Question

Please, pardon my ignorance. That looks like a very heavy piece of hardware and my 991.1 GT3 RS has the Axle lift.

Any ideas of how much weight is added by the FAL? I have configured my 991.2 GT3 RS with FAL, but if that thing weighs more than 20 lbs (including the pieces on the struts), I have to pass, as I cannot lose 20 lbs myself unless I go on a hunger strike. It looks really heavy.

How is it possible to cost nearly 3x the original cost of the option. That's is an absolute nightmare!!!! My garage is mice free but I do see them in the back yard but there is no entrance to the garage, do I really need countermeasures, LOL!

OP, sorry about that mess! WOW.

17lbs for the lift actuator..... I have a lift spec’d on my inbound. I think I’ll swap the battery out for the lithium ion at 11lbs. Old battery 51lbs + lift actuator 17 lbs =68lbs - remove old battery and replace reduce overall car weight 23 lbs...... keep eating pasta.

I'm thinking for that kind of money I would have paid a guy from our local hydraulic/pneumatic repair shop to come take a look first. The repair wouldn't be "Porsche approved", but so what - it is out of warranty anyways. That fitting won't come off? Unless there's more than I am seeing it looks like 5 bucks worth of tubing and a fitting.

Wow.

car companies make a lot of money on parts, so this why even if they move cars at cost, they benefit for years down the line from selling replacement parts
and at these crazy prices , this is why cars get declared total loss with what appears minimal damage

Well, the PDK transmission in a Cayman R costs many times the option price to replace. Another item Porsche does not repair. They will replace the entire unit even if it's a sensor failure.
Not a wise business model if you ask me!

$10k for a rubber hose is absurd!
Although now you have the start to a cool robot. . .

I'd definitely be getting a hydraulic hose specialist to take a look at that, its only a hose and not a specialist Porsche part. If its any consolation, the mice in my brothers garage ate a lot of the rubber hoses and chewed up the tyres on my Ducati 1299S when I left it there for a couple of months so I know how you feel.

I must yield to your superior malady, you have won ... errr.... lost?
LOL - Porsche guys sometimes do not know how well they have it.

Porsche PCCBS are a $9200 option from the factory. But if you have steels and then want to change afterwards, SunCoast sells OEM conversion kits for $27,700.00

Amazed at the pattern yet?

Now you are onto the right track - that is very resourceful!

High pressure Hydraulic fittings will not be your standard 45 degree flare and cone nut seal - probably Viton O-Ring, nipple insert and retaining clip. Twisting, turning and pulling will not remove these like your refrigerator water line, they need to be depressurized then released.

For the Maserati Bora I produced a series of improved seal materials, seals and stainless connectors for the OEM Bosch hydraulic pistons

Been there done that. I had mice eat through the power steering lines on my previous Nissan GTR. $$. I tried several different things but the only thing that worked was cats. Pick up some freebee barn cats and enjoy the massacre. It is kind of fun to watch and they will leave body parts all over the place as trophies. Kind of like King Joeffrey if he was a cat. Poison wasn't something I was comfortable with since I had dogs.
