Get the helmet..the harness...the HANS...then each track day you have to think about insurance... and pads, rotors, tires, fluids...and the list goes on and on.

If you can make it to a shop that stocks gear it is much better to try helmets on before buying. Bell, Simpson, Stilo in the same size don't necessarily fit the same.

I am in the same situation - Porsche Masters completed and some "other manufacturers" training and now looking to progress.
For the fixed buckets, what is the best HANS angle? Does the upright position of the seat back lend itself better to a 10deg HANS rather than the more common (and easier to find) 20deg or is it more about personal choice than working with particular seat angles?

If you want to go with a HANS, you will want a Model 20. Model 10s are very upright and would only be needed if you intent to drive a Sprint car. Seating position in one of those is like sitting at your dinning room table.
As far as a head and neck restraint to use with 3pt seat belts, so far the only one that was tested and passed for use with 3 pt seat belts is this one:

If there is a place up you way where you can try on different brand helmets, then you should take the time to visit them and try on several makes and models. Lets say you wear a large. A large helmet from one manufacturer may fit your head shape better than a helmet from another manufacturer. Our heads are all shaped a little different.
Kind regards,

When you first try on the helmet it should feel a bit smaller then you want. After wearing it a few times it will conform to your head. Kind of like shoes.
I have a Stilo ST5 Carbon, and my wife has the Composite, they are wonder full. communication built in, just plug and play.

Surprised no one has mentioned a Simpson Hybrid S. Additional protection in cars with regular (3-pt) belts. I'd definitely consider one of them. They also work in cars with harnesses.

Post 21 above. Three points in a passenger seat was one of the reason I went for the Hybrid S.

I see you're in Canada, if near Montreal try Perry Auto in Laval. Ask for Carl. He will match the pricing you can find online (US price * FX) just ask. They have a great selection of Stilo and other helmets, Hans, etc. As others have said try them on.

Careful with the loose advice to buy a HANS device. Don’t use one without a half cage and harness. Your torso and neck can move in a rollover with three point belts. This is safer than locking your torso and neck down with with a Hans and helmet without a roll bar. Your torso is now ridged in a roll over leaving your head and neck to pivot, not good.
Keep it simple, a good helmet- most clubs have them for loan or rent and nothing else until you dive in deeper.

That's why I stated 3 point for the Hybrid S. You do get some protection from a lateral impact. Agree with a 6/5 point you want a bar.
