RIP Everardo - A Smokies Cystic Fibrosis Messenger
Although this message may be more poignant to Smokies folks, I think it's relevant to all of us that support our various humanitarian causes.
Everardo, was a 19 year old boy suffering from cystic fibrosis who visited us at Smokies Spring 2017.
-----------------
Kevin, the nurse and Everardo’s hospital carer called a few days ago notified us that Ev passed away last Wednesday night. Ev had been in hospice for a few days. His wish on Tuesday was to be transferred back to the hospital in which he had spent so much of his time and be surrounded by the people he was close to.
It’s important for us all to know what Kevin said to me. Ev’s happiest moments, and a time at which he was healthiest, were when he was with us at the airfield last April. They were Ev’s cherished moments. We need to celebrate that!
As many of you know, Ev’s family are incredibly financially pressured and have another daughter that suffers from cystic fibrosis. In due course we’ll send out information on how individuals can donate to help the family out.
It is of course sad that Everardo passed away but lets use that to drive us to do more for our cause. Raise more awareness and resources for research and eventually END CF!
Thank you Smokies for everything that you all did to make a young persons life better.
Hats off to you guys for supporting the cause and making this child's life a little more enjoyable while he was with us. All these "Rennlist dramas" are so petty when we take so many things in life for granted.
This is so sad. Condolences to the family. Life is short, and some get so little time to enjoy it. Proud of you Mayur and Sean and everyone else associated with the Smokies, and supporting this cause. You make a difference. Class and character are always revealed. You guys prove that.
unfortunately things don't typically end well with CF patients, its a tough life and torture on the families. Its nice to see people such as Sean and Mayur stepping up to bring some joy for these folks. It was truly awesome to see how excited he was last year. RIP
Hopefully more of these folks can make it out for a spin with Smokies drivers in the future.
When I got the news I just kind of sat there for a while. Expected, yes, but still so unfair and wrong. Such a sweet kid, he smiled all day at the smokies. The first ride down the airstrip last year was with Ev in my RS. The look on his face was priceless and it made the countless hours of event planning seem like nothing.
Here's a great vid of him going for a run in the 918 weissach.
