Default Things to do with a GT3 Touring near Atlanta

I'm finally getting my touring early March, and since I am doing the PEC delivery I thought I might leave the car in Atlanta for a couple of months to explore the area.

Does anybody have any recommendations of good track day/hpde companies, or tracks that run open days in the area? I figure there's at least half a dozen great tracks within a few hours of Atlanta. Besides RA and AMP, where do the locals go? Although I have quite a bit of W2W racing experience I've actually never done a track day...

Any other misc advice of nice drives or other things around the area appreciated too!

On the street, the Tail of Dragon isn't that far and another track to consider is VIR, also not that far from Atlanta area. David Murray has some open track days in early April at Road Atlanta.

You might want to put some break in miles on it before taking it to the track.

Head up to Cherohala Skyway. A beautiful ride and some nice twists and turns for your new ride. Check the weather before you go. You can shoot up 575 and 68 to start the Skyway in Tellico Plains. Alternatively, head up 19 to Suches, Ga and take Wolf Pen Gap Rd (180). That is a fun ride then head over to Tellico Plains. At the end of Cherohala, GPS in Deal's Gap and start the Dragon. You'll have a blast!

Congrats on the new ride.

Set navigator for "suches"... take hwy 400 then then at dahlonega. At suches eat at T.W.O... then keep going to "Morganton" along hwy 60.. then head Over to "Helen".. and come back to dhalonega along "Richard b. Russell" hwy.

You're welcome.

This is a great suggestion. Also, if you are looking for another track environment, Barber in Bham is only a couple hours away. Incredibly nice facility and excellent track. I lived about 6 miles away from it for 6 years while I was in training. Nothing better than listening to race cars in the distance on the weekends.

Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, AL is one of my favorite places on earth. I was just there with Chin Track Days this past weekend in the pouring rain and it was still a blast. (Although I brought the Z06 because the .2 GT3 did not have enough miles yet) Well worth the short drive if you are able to make it, a world class facility. Tracks Unlimited has an HPDE event schedule there on March 10-11 and Chin Track Days will be back hosting an event on April 7-8. It will be worth your time if you can make it out to either event, I will be at the Chin event in April and could show you around.

Do not miss Barber, even if just to visit the museum. Amazing facility.

I've done some good events with these guys:

If you are into cars and coffee...or even if you are not...the monthly event at Perimeter Mall is very impressive.

To clarify.. my suggestion was for twisty roads close to ATL... probably some of the best driving roads you'll find anywhere in the world. If you want to go more than 50 Miles out then yes there is the dragon, cherohala, hwy 28..

Good suggestions!!!
If you around that way just look for hwy169 and it’s driving bliss.

Lots of state police so be careful.

I am in the Atlanta vicinity. Even have an extra garage space for the time being. Your best bet would be to leave it with me. I will take real good care of it for you!
