GT2 Cup/Clubsport
i heard from two different sides that a GT2 Cup or Clubsport will be available.
no homologation as usual.
who (of our cup drivers) knows something?
even a bit more hp it should get (would that make sense in terms of misc. regulations?)
or will it be mainly used for own customer racing series.
do they want to hype the turbo in racing?
some news about the turbo cup spy video we saw a while ago?
no homologation as usual.

things are clearing up
a GT2 RS Clubsport as kind of edtiton is / will be offered.
the car arrives in summer 2018.
based on GT2RS (and not on the Cup! (Chassis and drivetrain wise))
750hp
-110kg
The car is not able to be registered / not street legal - imagine it like the Cayman GT4 Clubsport
price... GT2RS MSRP x1,5 or x2

The above is correct. It's a gentleman-driver product. Suspected to be a track toy with potential to run another one-make series for Ams only... price point is curious as is performance which gives the car better outright times than the Cup...

Quite certain this product will not be the GT4 platform. That's confirmed to use the 718 as base (another discussion another day).
Which potentially leaves us with a bizarre picture:
Club One-Make: 718 GT4 CS
"Gentleman" One-Make: new GT2RS platform... potentially replacing the "Cup Challenge" series in some regions and priced to go head-to-head with Ferrari Challenge (hardly a good target crowd IMO)
"Pro" One-Make: GT3 Cup
The Pro bias for the Cup is understandable but the hardware gap isn't. UNLESS... Cups go turbocharged in the next cycle.
The last point is purely my own speculation.

Didn't you guys notice the comments from Walliser about the GT4 and how the non-MR version was a "track-day" car.....seems to me that they are keen to sell more track-day toys in the spirit of GT4. Let's face it, a GT3 Cup, even now, is still not a gentleman driver friendly toy for a track-day guy. But a GT4CS most certainly is. Build things that bridge the gap between a road legal GT car and a GT4 race car, and people will line up to buy it from Porsche. These guys aren't idiots.

421 units of GT4 Clubsport were sold.
this year new Cayman GT4 on base 718.
the 3 years Homologationsperiod for "GT3" cars (the racing class) is running out.
but 991.2 GT3 RS is in Geneva so all fine to have a new Homologationsperiod.
so no RSR mid/rear engine concept on the R.
the new GT3R should get a beefy update - even further than the last GT3R Evo-Kit.
Porsche Motorsport guys said a 3rd race car will come.
should be presented in Sept.2018
They guess at Rennsport Reunion in CA.

What we know:
2019 GT3R - homologated from .2GT3RS - NA motor, rear engine.
2019 GT4CS - homologated from 718 GT4 - ? motor (not confirmed, NA or turbo) - mid engine - should retain PDK and many other "standard" road car features to control costs and make it owner-friendly.
"3rd race car" - perhaps this is the GT2 Cup or whatever it is. Not road legal, also not currently eligible to race anywhere, unless they want to create another one-make series. Maybe this is their way of phasing out GT3 Cup cars, if GT3 are truly going turbo after this model generation. Who knows
The RSR is it's own beast right now, and with the current technical regs in place, Porsche isn't required to manufacture a "mid-engine" race car to continue racing it as-is. If they decide to make and sell a true mid-engine supercar, for homologation purposes for GTE/LM race car, then fine, but 911 is the icon of the brand, and they don't seem eager to move away from it. Time will tell. Maybe they wait to see how it affects Corvette when they switch to mid-engine.

^^???
RSR need to race a street car
on 2019 if they want change current RSR engine they need to present Before a new street RS
otherwise they have to keep current engine either on new 2019/20 season rules
GT2RS engine need More than 2000 cars produced
I can' t see that at this price level

new 3RS is presented in 3 weeks. so all fine.
also the GT2RS will be produced over 2000 units. maybe 2000 and one. but over 2000. you mean that new RSR should get a turbo engine?

Is there a market for 2001 .GT2RS ?
anyway they have always option B
a very limited 600 (501) RS cup/rsr edition
it would be seen as investment and sold in a day
