Default How long

Just placed my order for a 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 over the weekend. The dealership is telling me September delivery.
8 months sounds like a long time, how long did it take to get yours?

We also removed any items that would hold up the order.

Thanks

I’ve put my deposit down in the beginning of June 2017. Car is scheduled to enter production in March. Long wait...

The answer depends on the allocation slot that your dealer had. Most likely was July build , and delivery 2 months later.

They got your order in their system, once your allocation slots opens then they'll submit for build. 1-2 months for build and delivery.

I'm about 5 years in since I started the list for the 2RS, I have a Sept build....now that's a LONG WAIT!

the 2 key dates to know for any build are the estimated build dates and the corresponding build lock date that allows you to make any changes. Other then that you are at the mercy of shipping/transport.

I have to say, Bossing is either a VIP client, or extremely lucky. His car was one of the early US deliveries.

I'll give you a little more background, up to you to see if it pertains to you.

I inquired about a GT3.2 March 2017. I was told the first allocations would go to their VIP clinets, the one's who have 918's, etc. Next would be their local customers. That included me. They guessed maybe a late winter delivery, based on their history of allocations. Winter goes all the way up to March 2018. I hesitated. Finally made up my mind and submitted and order and spec, accepted by PAG with a V180 code June 2017. V180 is simply your dealer letting PAG know that they have a buyer, and requesting an allocation. MY SA still guestimated a late winter arrival. Then came all the hoopla and paranoia at RL. LOL. Gave me an ulcer. I gave my SA the same ulcer. LOL. January 2018, my order went to V200. Now it was definite, my car was going to be built, with the build date and delivery dates planned by PAG, expected delivery late March 2018.

I secured an open dealer allocation. The order history shows they got the allocation in September of 2017. I snagged it a few weeks ago, here in January 2018. Build locks March 1st and expected delivery is May 2018. We'll see what the actual timeline looks like I guess.

It really depends on individual circumstances. I have a great relationship with my dealer, knew I was getting one of their allocations (dealer never asked nor would have accepted a deposit given my relationship with them), and we jointly worked to get me into a PTS slot (as obviously not all months were PTS eligible). In my case that happened to be April 2018 prod (when in fact was something we were discussing ever since I saw the car in person at its public unveil in Geneva in March 2017). Now that we have recently submitted the build, April prod got moved to May, to ultimately end of June as I just found out was further pushed given some CXX options I added at last minute.

So for many here, it can be over a year between getting a formal allocation to seeing the car in person. Waiting game is a killer but patience is rewarded, as is many times the case in life...

OP, if the dealer just told you September delivery, I'd expect September delivery. They did recently pull in some deliveries, but it appears that was communicated to dealers a few weeks ago. Could always happen, but my guess is you'll get the car in September, possibly August.
