Hello,
I got a call from my SA today informing me that no GT3 will be registred in Germany after 1 sep 2018 due to emission regulations.
I know this is the US forum but wondered if someone could help with the following issue:
I am a German expat living in the UAE. I am planing to buy the car locally and after a few years when I return to Germany, I would like to take my GT3 with me.
As per my SA, I will not be able to register it which does not make sense to me.
Anyone knows how to solve this issue? Or direct me to the right people to contact?
Thank you.

I don’t think that is accurate. That would mean that another any car that won’t meet the new emissions regulation won’t be able to be register either.

I also don’t get it. It doesn’t make any sense to me.
My dealer told me, PAG canceled/postponed all their gt2rs allocation to after september because they are delivering in Germany...

Best bet is to contact the emissions regulation authority in Germany and ask about the upcoming changes. Everything else willl just be misinformation.

The production will be stopped in july due the re-organizing factory lines for the installation of the particulate filter on all models.
I think Euro 6-B emissions programmed development.
The production will restart in september for the EU GTS.
A this point, i think, they will produce the ROW cars until the beginning of the 992, for the end of this year.
Notice from my italian CP.

I think a car manufacturer cannot sell a new car after the regulation changes. It might not mean however that a car couldn't be imported as a used car after that date. It would be good for your ask Porsche the question from this angle.

What I've read, but not confirmed, is that cars that were never registered in Europe will be required to conform with the latest Euro 6c regulation effective September 1.
e.g. You would have to import your ROW/UAE car back to Germany prior to September. ....and unless you have the exemption for moving your 1 car as part of household goods when you've actually moved back to Germany you'll have to pay the 19% VAT + an additional 10% import tax.
I saw something about some sort of exemption when the car is 30+ years old. This will potentially have a huge effect on importing cars back to Europe from the 964-991.
It sucks because I had hoped to bring my 993 over there in a year or two.

From what I've read that's correct. Unless it was previously registered in Europe prior to September 1st. I hope that's not correct though because it's going to screw me.

Only for a few months to print as much money as they can in the markets outside the EU probably. I bet we see more GT car production this year then ever before.. Then it appears they'll be on to the 992 in January after only a 2 model year refresh period for the 991.
