Picked up my .2 manual, initial impressions
So I picked up my car yesterday. I got about 550 miles on it already. Wanted to share some initial thoughts comparing it to my late .1 GT3.
1. Steering. Nobody has mentioned this, but the biggest thing for me besides the manual was the difference in steering compared to my .1 gt3. Now it has been about 8 months since I drove the .1, and this could all be subjective. Nonetheless, I think it’s worth mentioning. The steering wheel of course is smaller, and to me it seems the initial turn in had become significantly sharper compared to .1 It is a variable ratio steering, they might have made the initial turn a little quicker to compensate for the smaller wheel? Not sure, but my brother drove it and had the same thought, sharper initial turn in. Would appreciate other’s impressions on this, it may just be subjective.
2. The manual. Best manual transmission car I have driven, period. It is not hard to drive or go through gears, but it is very mechanical, with lots of mechanical noises and clicks. The shifter is very precise, while the clutch has perfect weigh, imo. It’s lighter than 997 l, but has enough weight.
Good of news is that there is still lots of mechanical gurgling flywheel noise still present. If the .1 sounded like lots of empty cans being shaken in a thin plastic bag, this one sounds the same except it’s in a leather bag.
3. The engine. Have not pushed it hard, but it does have more low end torque and sounds different. Need more time to get the rpms higher before I can say more.
Some pics. And I like the view of the intake in the rear view mirror.

Thanks for the report...I love what I'm hearing about the steering. Your car looks beautiful. And you have great weather, unlike some our friends East of us...
My Touring is due into Benicia on 1/5. After sitting in Emden for exactly a month, I hope it get's to the dealer quickly.
