Great pictures and info - thanks for sharing
"Surprised" but "not surprised" by the demand for the new GT2RS- I have to believe they will swing more production that way
Will be interesting if there will be no new GT4 in 2019/20. - I freakin knew I should of kept her

If, and it’s a big if, there is no new GT4 forthcoming, owners of the 981 GT4 will certainly possess a unique Porsche in the annals of Porsche history! Might be wise to keep it if you own one.

I agree with your comment but I don't believe for a second the OP's comment on that point which is why I asked for clarification. Porsche would be stupid not to have a NA Flat-6 718 GT4/Spyder. The demand is huge. We've all seen the spy pics of the mules running around anyway. I also recall AP telling the automotive world that the next GT4 would be NA. The only NA engine Porsche is making is for the GT3 so the mid-engine GT4/Spyder is going to be golden with a GT3 engine.

-There will not be a "new GT4" or Cayman RS type variant for the street. However I was told that Porsche is working on a new GT4 race car for 2019 to be more competitive with the new BMW M4 GT4, AMG GT4 and Audi R8 GT4. Porsche feels those cars are legally compliant but on some level violate the spirit of the GT4 class (race gearboxes, etc). I was told it will use a "new platform" for homologation. I was also told there will be both a "Clubsport" and "GT4" version as in the past.

As a life long engineer (and 911 owner), I know the engine belongs in the middle. That is why the 919, 918, Carrera GT and F1 cars are built that way. The last 911 to win Le Mans was a Mid-engine 911. If Porsche puts a GT3 engine in a GT4 chassis even if significantly detuned, the demand is going to be awesome. Watch.
I also recognize what Porsche did with the GT2RS at the Ring.....a rear engine car with a power deficit compared to it's competitors. A testament to the driver and the suspension.

No problem at all. Other car forums outside of rennlist that are focused on Cayman/Boxsters. The 981 GT4 was under priced. People were putting their names down at 7 dealerships to get on the list just on the rumor and they were assuming that the price would be 10-15k higher than it came out to be. Porsche had to increase allocations once they recognized true demand - a failure of their marketing department to assess market forces. I believe that Porsche marketing was blind and taken by surprise from the demand for the GT4 because they were overly focused on the 911 variants.

It's a great car, and I personally really enjoyed my limited seat time the GT4, but I'm not sure there is as much demand as it appears on enthusiasts forums as there is in the "real" world.

That is most likely due to the fact that a lot of people upgraded to the GT3 MT since initially the GT4 was purchased by a lot of people fed up with a PDK only GT3. In reality the same saturation and value loss could be said about the .1 GT3.

While I generally think there is high demand for Porsche GT cars generally, that high demand is limited only to a small section of overall Porsche customers.
