How about these for descriptors (ignoring the RS for the moment):

GT4 - Sheep in wolves clothing
GT3 - Wolf in wolves' clothing
GT3T - Wolf in sheep's clothing

This is why I am ordering the GT3T!

More observations:

Brakes - had Irons on the .1 so when traded for the GT4 I decided with the money I collected to try PCCBs. The PCCBs were Superior on my GT4. Best brakes ever. But-I attributed some to the lighter GT4 and the Mid-engine platform. Have the PCCBs in the. 2 and equally impressive as my GT4. Fantastic brakes and I recommend for the street. Plus- these days you getting more on resale/trade-in on builds so you do mot lose as much for the upgrade.

Steering - this is one I need more seat time. If I was forced to give my answer I would say the GT4 was slightly heavier and sort of matched the heavier clutch. Find the GT3 to be slightly lighter with the steering and clutch very light. But-both have very good feel so no winner here just different.

how about something similar to this to keep the price down, but increase performance of the GT4.

- shorter final drive
-lwfw
-Header/tune

Id be curious to see some comparisons with some modified GT4 as well. Still way under the 75k and change to get to the Gt3 price point.

Tough proposition - My GT4 was pretty modified but you still can not get to the GT3 engine. The Engine in the. 1,.2, RS, R is a special engine.

But- is it worth $ 75,000??? . This is a Personal decision that each one has to make. But- the GT4 still the best value Porsche ever introduced- Bargain of tge decade make no bones about it. If the next GT4 is FI the values will rocket.

I wish I could of kept me GT4 and the. 2. What a combo to have the both with Manuals. They are different cars and both Special. I hold the GT4 with high praise and nothing can change that

Would love to do some comparison drives if anyone in the NYC has a .2 manual that's broken in! Have the lwfw, X51+4L, and headers & tune, just debating gears/final drive over the winter....

a final drive on your car would be amazing. This would be an interesting comparison for sure.

Are you interested in 0-60 times??

Different experiences these two models

I think what you have done would bring it close( 0- 60 but not as close to 100) but the delivery will never be as pure, smooth, and linear as the GT3 engine with a 9000 redline would deliver. Some will understand what I am conveying.

Oh, no doubt. A purpose built 9k rpm engine that's another generation on is totally different ball game which is why I'm excited to hear your impressions on the .2 GT3 vs GT4. I'm not interested in 0-60 times or anything like that, no question the new 4L is faster, just curious to compare how the engines rev and feel.

The GT4 with a 4.0L would be automotive utopia. I'd even accept it costing the same as a .2 GT3.
A GT4 4.0L and a GT2 RS would be the perfect duo.

Can I ask why you don’t track? It’s so much fun.

I dont think you’ll have SO MUCH more fun with the GT3 that it’s worth the upgrade. I think if you want something different, consider a 991.1 GT3... the extra 200cc isn’t going to change your life dramatically.

I don't think most people ever think of a 911 as a sheep regardless of the manner in which it is cloaked...

I have both and I like both for what they bring to the table:

.2 GT3 = engine, motorsport engine, that engine... fast revs, high revs... it's amazing... perfect for street cruising or track dashing

GT4 = more affordable just as fun sports car... handling, balance, the complete bang for the buck package... fun as hell on open roads

Two friends of mine raced their GT4 from 2nd and 3rd gear pull. Both with exhausts + tune. One with X51 4.0. Barely any noticeable difference in mid range or top end. The same Friend drove the 4.0 car and thought it wasn’t worth it.

He ended up doing the lower final drive and 3rd gear replacement. IMO, that’s what the car needs more than anything.

I really hope the 4.0L stick ariund with a manual for a few more models, they should keep it on the 992.1 gt3 with a 6spd, that engine will go down as one of the best every available for a road car.
