Ah yes, sorry about that. Against the PDK shows a much closer comparison. Some tracks faster for each car and broadly similar pace, except at the very top end where the RS’s aero drag blunts the acceleration to maximum. Someone mentioned tyres, which could be a big part of the equation. But it would have to be some tyre improvement to allow a 245/305 combination overwhelm a 265/325 combination on basically the same chassis wouldn’t it?

When you look at the comparison, seems like the RS has marginally better performance, better braking (which must surely be tyres?) and we know it has more aero. The gearing seems different because the in-gear times favour the GT3.

So, my conclusion would be that suspension calibration and therefore probably pliancy is helping the GT3’s speed. That I can understand. It would also explain why each car is faster on different tracks. I still probably suspect there is a bit of marketing in the ring time though - do Porsche do,that sort of thing? I strongly suspect Ferrari do at Fiorano.

When I look at the performance comparo, I see PDK GT3RS and MT GT3. I stopped reading it right there and then !

.2GT3 has the new MPCS. Superior tire.
.1GT3RS has the old MPCS.
Put the N2 MPCS on the .1GT3RS and you will see the .1RS edge out the .2GT3. Like CJ said. Wider tires, more areo, larger track front and rear. Simple. Power specs are nearly identical.
You were lofers and I'll wear appropriate foot wear for a foot race and lets see who wins assuming near equal ability.
.1RS Ring time test occured in less than optimal weather from what I recall. .2GT3 had perfect conditions and better shoes.
I'm betting .1RS with N2 MPCS and optimal weather would eclipse .2GT3 Ring time by a at least 2-3 seconds.

^^when will we start seeing these available for .1 GT3 & RS? hopefully by next track season. Tirerack still shows only N0 & N1.

A bunch of folks have done sub 7.10 times on the ring with the RS. Mathany racing has a video on youtube showing just that. I do not think the RS ring times posted are accurate based on similar conditions vs the 991.2 GT3. Regardless, the RS is just a sick car to own and drive vs the GT3. (I have driven both)

The first one is BTG, from the park, so around +15 seconds and it's with Lars Kers (the guy that did the record of the GT2 RS and Panamera Turbo).
The first one isn't a great example, given that they got traffic, but still, 7:06 lap is pretty much a rarity.
The second one is from SportAuto (not the same driver) and usually is 5 to 10 seconds slower than the drivers that Porsche brings, so take out 5 seconds to that lap and you have the lap that Porsche would do.
Just as an example, the 991.2 GT3 time was 8 seconds slower than the factory lap, with a 7:18 lap.

Another thing, these 2 cars, don't have bolt cage and center exhaust. It has suspension, 991 R undertray / rear spliter (or whatever the name is), suspension (KW coilovers with Manthey specs), cage extension to the front (we get rear cage as standard), pads, more angle on the wing, magnesium wheels and Trofeo R.

Wider tires don't necessarily make a car faster on track, its the whole package working together. Performante runs same size tires as the GT3 245/305 and ran 7.52 Ring time, McLaren 720 runs the same setup also. Tire compound is another story.

Every time the discussion of ring times comes up, somebody chucks in the Manthey RS as evidence of the RS being faster than the GT3.2 ignoring the fact that the Manthey RS is not a standard RS.
They replaced the standard suspensions with a KW 3-way adjustable coilover setup with remote reservoirs and front and rear adjustable top mounts specifically tuned for the 991 GT3 RS to make the most of the chassis. They also took some weight out, in the form of their magnesium wheels which removed 12kgs of rotational mass. In addition, they uprated the brake pads and changed the underbody panels for improved air flow. So while the ring times of the M RS are interesting, they are irrelevant.
