I just picked up a perfect 2017 Z06/Z07 Corvette with 1,800 miles for $72,000. 18" wheels fit over the ceramic brakes and I'll be running 345/315 R7's, I also plan on using the LG lowering spindles, long tube headers, and Pagid RSC brake pads. All in for approx $80,000, it's a great value. The overheat issues are gone with the manual trans in the 2016 and newer cars. I'm 6'2" and fit fine. I suspect it will hand my GT3 it's *** on a platter on the track.

I didn't know the A10 didn't fit. Good to know.

Anyway, I think the ZR1 will be a blast to drive and with that immense 700+lb/ft of torque, it's going to make power all over the tachometer so short shifting it (to help keep temps down on an extended hot session) is unlikely to degrade lap times to any significant degree.
For my birthday my children rented me a 2016 C7 Z06 A8, and i had it for a weekend. I didn't bother with the auto mode, and put it in manual mode and thrashed it up in the mountains for 4 hours at a time. The oil and water temperatures never got into the danger zones. By manually shifting gears i avoided the overly active programming of the auto. As you know there's 592 lb./ft. of torque off idle so there's really no need to shift at redline. In a recent drive up in the mountains I experimented with my '17 Z07 M7 (which I bought as a result of my experience with the rental) and kept the transmission in 3rd gear for most of the drive, and temps were never even remotely close to overheating. On the way home I left the car in 2nd gear, and temperatures rose but never got close to being a problem. If LG motorsports with their modified front fascia and cooling fixes for the C7 Z06 are able to run in the Texas heat without overheating, then I would surmise that the ZR1 with all the cooling fixes would be more than capable. Sure would be fun to find out.

What exactly is “limp mode†in the Z06? I’ve read it chops “a couple hundred hp†but if that’s al it did, you’re still looking at Grand sport power lol

As the car gets progressively hotter on a road course it will retard the ignition as Intake Air Temps (IATs) increase, this then costs horsepower and the car does seem slower, although it’s still damn fast. When the engine water temp and engine oil temps reach a certain threshold however, it enters ‘limp mode’ to protect the engine from damage, and at this point you have to exit the track and allow the car to cool down.

So that’s the how and why (thanks btw!) but what’s the “how much?â€

If it’s “only†a couple hundred HP, that’s still exactly Grand Sport power which still is nothing to sneeze at. Or is it Prius without the electric?

We all will just need to move over when one of these damn things are on track with us and being driven by any kind of decent driver! lol

Impressive work on GM's part. Kudos to them.

Another monster, besting even the ACR-E. Fun to read about, but too much money for a Vette with an unknown future, and I own one. C8 will be here very soon.

The speed is nuts! 170 on the front straight, and 150ish through much of the esses. I think the car would be too fast for me without a full cage.

Yes, still a little ugly, and I still don't like the interior, but, I still feel like buying one. Even if just out of curiosity. I don't know what's wrong with me lately... Maybe it'll arrive sooner than my GT3?

I found this interesting video on youtube the other day, drag between 991.1 RS vs. new ZR1.
Please fast forward to 4:06 to go right into the action. Curious how the .2 GT3 or the new RS will do.
Both are great cars, still a bit surprised how well the RS held up against the ZR1.

Quick Reply: 911 GT3 .2 or 2019 Corvette ZR1??
