Default Willow Springs International Speedway "Big Willow" PCA-SDR GT3RS

What an amazing weekend with my good friends from PCA-SDR at Big Willow.

This was my first time there, even though I had race this track 1000 times on Project Cars, and even the new Project Cars 2, which I currently hold the 4th fastest time on Big Willow.

I also hit the lottery when they told me Rick was going to be my instructor for this event, who also drives a GT3 which for me is a big deal since he already know how my car performs.

First session out I was really slow running around 1:52, and let more people pass me then all the tracks I have been to all year, but I wanted to find all my landmarks before pushing it to hard because this is one track you DO NOT want to go off on especially in my car.

By the end of the day my laps times were in the mid 1:30s, and Rick gave me great confidence in my driving which helped me get there.

On the second day I was ready to start going for low 1:30s but unfortunately was having issues with the car since I had just changed up wheels and tires that was causing the TC to kick on for the majority of the track, but I think we figured out the problem for future tracks... We will see.

Here is a video of a couple laps of me driving with Rick towards the end of the day Saturday, hope you enjoy.

Also want to thank Vision Motorsports for coming out to the track and helping us guys out.

They offered a wheel and brakes service where they will change out your wheels, check tire temps and pressures after each session as they wait for you by the pits, and will even do brake work for you like change your pads for a mere $150!

So worth it in so many ways I can't even describe, thanks again for all your help!

As a proud member of the "Turn 9 Sand and Gravel Club", Id be curious to know what is the best verified laptime for a 991 GT3 and 991 RS on stock rubber?

I know Rick my instructor which drives a 991 GT3 ran a 1:28.43 in TT and took 2nd place.

Couldn't tell you what the lap record is for these GT cars but 1:28 is pretty quick.

Yeah, great guy...know him personally and hang out in his group. I was signed up for Chuckwalla but my side hustle business duties call so I can't make it. I am signed up and planning to go to Buttonwillow....I'll bring out my Voodoo blue RS for that event.

Yea Rick was fun to drive with.

I think we have bumped into each other on this forum before, your name looks familiar.

Might of been my thread about the loose nuts on my wheels and I thought you were the car I ran into at Porsche of San Diego.

The GT cars on street tires were in the mid to high 1:30's. Last year I had a 1:30.6 on street tires, I will never be able to come anywhere close to Randy's times. Rick was the fastest of the GT cars that ran Hoosiers, 1:28's still very fast for us non pro's.

Yep, I think it's probably safe to consider Randy's lap the documented .1 record.

The fastest recorded Porsches on stock rubber are:

918 Spyder - 1:23.54 RP
991.2 C2S - 1:27.10 RP
991 TTS - 1:27.17 RP
991.1 GT3 - 1:27.22 RP
991 50th - 1:28.93 RP

To get into 86s-85s range you'll probably need 600 horses or better rubber e.g. MPSC2N1

would love Randy (or someone of his caliber) to take a .1 RS out there in similar conditions to see exactly how much (if any) faster it is over a standard .1

A GT3RS over a GT3?

If that is your question, then you wont notice much of a difference.

The main difference would be at higher speeds like a California Speedway where you can hit 170mph on the straight, the down force is nice to have.

If you check 0 to 60 times and even 0 to 100 times there both .1 difference in acceleration.

Also yes the RS has bigger tires, but most GT3 guys that track there car are already putting on them 265/325s so the advantage is not anymore.
