Offered as a build option on a GTS model, rather than deminnish the GT3 pedigree, as well as not add
More demand to the already tuff GT3 allocation challenge; and from the bottom line focus make it a big time pricey option for the
" motor sport touring package "
So a "GTST" Would cost 200+/-
Anyway congrats to guys that will get one, just a little frustrating for the track crowd which I thought was
The focus for a GT car.
Lack of GT car allocations have as much or more to do with current government environmental regulations than what Porsche would like to sell or how many they can produce. You seem to think they can build the same number of GT cars and then simultaneously build a bunch of N/A GTS models with a "motor sport touring package." I don't know what their bean counting will let them do but I doubt it.

The GT3 touring doesn't degrade the street GT3 at all. In fact, it gives those of us with GT3 allocations the ability to have a semi decent answer to the question - "why didn't you get an RS."

Don't understand those who are bashing it. It is just an option, if u like it, tick it otherwise go the big wing clubsport. We should be grateful we are giving lots of choices.
Maybe it will increase demand, but if you are not already on the list then what is there to complain about. Someone who previously not had an interest in the gt3 suddenly has an inkling to get a gt3 touring, will not have a better chance of getting one unless of cos they are prepare to pay above market value, but isn't that pretty much with anything in life. Some things are just not paid in monetary sense.....

I thought the answer to that question was "because the .2 GT3 is faster and costs $30k less and has Manual option"

At least until the .2 RS comes along...

Ya...I am assuming the 4.2l .3RS with manual is inevitable.

Don't forget about the .2 GT3's superior motor to the .1 RS

How about a fully decent answer of "I couldnt afford it" or "I couldnt get an allocation"

Why would you have to trailer a gt3 with clubsport package?

why have a ton of optional configuration (seats, touring, roll cage, tranny) but not make it available to everyone. I hate it because I can't get an allocation (despite being on the wait list at my dealer for more than 2 years)

As we don't get that here in the states, I assumed he meant something like the gt4 CS, which is a race car.

Perhaps its a simple case of the Porsche market place getting very crowded e.g.

991.2 S X51 550Nm and 450HP (four seats, no wing, narrow body, man or PDK, RAS, SPASM, PDCC, FI, RWD)
991.2 GTS 550Nm and 450HP (four seats, no wing, wide body, man or PDK, RAS, SPASM, PDCC, FI, RWD or AWD)
991.2 Touring 480Nm and 500HP (2 seats, no wing, wide body, man, RAS, SPASM, PDCC, NA, RWD)
991.2 GT3 480Nm and 500HP (2 seats, wing, wide body, man or PDK-S, SPASM, RAS, PDCC, NA, RWD)

Perhaps the different niches already overlap sufficiently ??? More so given the range of available options. Also my SA pointed out that although there is a lot of noise about manuals, his reality is he sells very few and of his GT3 buyers non had requested a manual. This may simply reflect the market I live in or a broader reality that is not reflected in an enthusiasts site like Rennlist.

You may have seen the poll i put up the other day. Of interest, only 20% so far are going with touring and I agree if it had options for extra seats and/or PDK would have increased some more, say 30% ? But I don't understand the overly emphatic opinion on the vehicle attractiveness or its impact on other variants. Its an option on a GT3. Its like the clubsport package, or PTS etc.. Some like and want, some don't and won't....

Because it's one step away from a GT3 Cabriolet if you use the "why not, more options better" argument. From there GT3 becomes a brand like Macan GT, X5M, AMG G63. Jumbo shrimp. Cheesecake Factory menu.

So much fuss about a name. "Touring" takes away the wing, otherwise the car is the same with the same ethos of "lightness and performance".

I wouldn't care if they called it anything else, I'm interested in this car for it's NA screamer engine and a chassis that rewards good drivers, while holding up well to track abuse. Could be a 911 Flat White car, who cares?!
