Default Austrian Alps Attack

I was unfortunate enough not to be able to follow the interesting debates about gt car future value, mt vs pdk and so on since I was out driving the Jochs, Passes and Strasses in Austria

I did the Arlbergpass, Fernpass, Timmelsjoch, Hahntenjoch and last but not least the Grossglockner.
One day was bad with lots of traffic and rain, that was the Fernpass day, awfull. Hahntenjoch in the rain, oh my, make a 20 cm mistake and you die. It was so slippery, cold and wet, tyres dropped to 1.9 bar. Car tried to spit me off the road several times.

Timmelsjoch was brilliant.

But Grossglockner killed them all, literally king of the hill, utterly gobsmacking ! Did the Grossglockner route from the Porsche GTS routes iphone app that starts in Zell Am See and ends in Gmund. Unfortunately due to road works and Stau we were running late, so we had to cut that trip short at Lienz to get to Kempinski Jochberg.
Ah well, makes for a good excuse to do the whole thing again someday.

Conclusion: Austria is great, .2GT3 is great, PDK is great. Grossglockner is a definite must do again ...

Grossglockner is amazing! I did it in June this year and was lucky enough with nearly no traffic closer to the top! Brings back good memories..

Great pics, stunning scenery. What I wouldn't give to go back and do it again.

Thing is you're in constant dilemma. You want to attack the mountain, but you also want to look at the scenery. Next time I visit I drive up and down slowly first to enjoy the scenery, and a second time to enjoy attacking the road.

Now, wouldn't this be an epic setting for a European Rennlist GT car meeting ?

Co-incidentally I did Timmelsjosch today. Agree with you that it's an awesome road.

Did the Sella Rhonda in the morning followed by the Jaufen Pass then Timmelsjosch. Tonight we are in St Anton. Doing Silvretta tomorrow.
