Default Top End Changes to the 2016 GT3 Engine

I am taking delivery on a 2016 GT3 shortly. I have been reading here about the change to the 2016 engine's top end, but have not found anything authoritative on the changes. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

PS - All the talk about the 991 top end problems has me a bit rattled.

For GT3: DLC coated finger followers and cams; revised oiling, revised springs.

I don't remember if they changed the cam profile or not.

Any info on the source of these changes?

Looks like the F revision had a profile change, here's my summary from https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...-replaced.html;

E00000: MY 2014 (GT3)
E1xxxx: E replacement engine with fixed rod bolts, added cold rev limiter
F00000: MY 2015 (GT3)
F03048: Revised heads, valve springs, camshafts, finger followers with updated DLC, updated ECU
G00000: MY 2016 (GT3, GT3 RS) additional oil sprayers, revised oil pump, filter neck, filter
xxxxxx: Service bulletin to replace ignition coils, spark plugs, and increase mid range oil pressure
G05374: (R, GT3 RS) DLC camshaft lobes, revised ignition coils, increased mid range oil pressure

There are three piston and two piston ring versions for the GT3, unknown at which serial numbers these changed.

Where to find engine number;

Try and get a 991.2 at some point.

For what 2016's are going for $, it's ridiculous.

.1's will drop significantly in the next couple years. If it's not a concern to you, 2016 is the best year of the .1's.

Geez. The OP didn't ask for advice and we sure don't need another .1 vs .2 and/or pricing thread.

My friend had also the heads replaced. I believe they are also different or it's just a procedure to replace them as well in case of misfire code problem.

The 2016 is the one to get!

I have a 2016 for sale to make room for my new car.
RS oiling system, DLC, etc
First clue was the RS filter when I did first oil change!

Enjoy!
