Default Where do i find the engine number ?

Hi All,

Need some help please! I've been trying to find the engine number for my GT3 without any success. Have checked under the car, but i can't see anything there (there is a number stamped on the undertray, but that is just the part number for the tray).

Checked the service book, but the engine number is not there.

There is a sticked on the passenger side of the car, which has the chassis number (VIN) and a line below which says "ENGINE MA175 F[x][x][x][x][x]". Wasn't sure if the F-prefixed number is the engine number ? Seems too short.

I just need it so that i can register the car, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Just open engine compartment and read your engine serial #. It's a piece of cake!

Still having problem finding it...then follow these simple instructions!

Oh, a modern Porsche? Never mind....

But on a serious note...

No, MA175 is the type of engine code. For example here are two gt3s for the North American market with the identical engine codes & identical transmission codes (PDK Sport):

Top one is of a US gt3 and the second one of a Canadian gt3. Both MY2015.

Here is one of a MY2015 911 Turbo S from Canada.

Different engine & transmission codes!

I think the advice you got in PistonHeads is still the best, Kananga. But you'll have to remove the air flow protective cover.

Curious...why do you need the engine number to register a car in the UK?

Thank you Eduardo.

Re the M175 number, i realise that is the engine type number... but i was hoping the Fxxxxx number was the one that i needed!

I was hoping to get the number without removing the undertray...

btw... your signal green car is incredible... much respect!!!

ps. i agree - annoying that i need the number, but it is required on the paperwork, so i don't want to risk delaying the process!

The easiest place to find the engine number; MA175-xxxxxx. My old number before the car shipped back to the port for replacement.....

Thanks Mike. I have the same sticker, on the rear deck lid as you have it, and also on the passenger door jamb. Very helpful - thank you!!
