My guess, is that this work is being done by Champion Porsche??

People have been doing transmission swaps on 911s since the sportomatic days.
This is pretty awesome. I'm guessing a pet scan of all the bits and differences is the key. And of course sourcing the r box.
Cool project. Not cheap I'm sure but should be reversible too if inclined.
Would be good for you to post a parts list and if any custom or hacky stuff was required for the electronics. Guessing if you change the right boxes to r bits it'll work ok. Question is if things like the gateway, abs, motronic, and tc computers freak out.

No doubt only a handful. I recall as the 997.1RS came down to earth and below MSRP (economy tanking, .2 release) quite a few became candidates for $$ mods, something no one is daring yet with the 991RS. If Porsche 'never' releases a manual RS again, then I think more will try this route. People want what they can't have, or others can't buy. The beauty of this mod is the possibly of it ALL being from OEM parts, it's "factory aftermarket" a much better long term value proposition...and I'm very mod adverse.

subscribed! very interesting!
someone already probably asked you this but in case I missed it, why do you like it on the .1 GT3 and not on the other cars? Is it because on the .1 GT3 the paddles are how do I say it "heavier" to engage, so it gives more of a connection than the regular PDK paddles?
I remember reading once that the mechanism or spring on the .1 GT3 PDK paddles is different on the other models, so was wondering if it gave you more of an engaging feel and if this is the reason why PDK on the .1 is ok for you. I am sure it will be more engaging with a manual but I am trying to compare PDK on .1 GT3 with PDK on the rest

Kudos. How do you plan to address the hydraulic system?

Your absolutely right on the gt4 pdk, or a re-gear of some sorts. I sold mine for that reason alone, not bashing, it is an amazing car and well put together but pretty much a 1 gear car out of first. i wish that car had tighter ratios , would be epic and a keeper for sure.
I'm happy that you guys are excited, I feel we've all been asking for the same thing for a while now. More interesting stuff will be put up soon.

With the new GT3 having the same gearbox (and even more aggressive locking ratios in the LSD), it should become easier rather than harder to source the gearbox...

Thanks, you guys are turning up the excitement factor for me too.
Thanks, will do! I will put up little things during the build and hope it doesn't bore you all. quite a few little parts here and there but all needed.
thanks
