One thing that hasn't been discussed will be what type of stripes/decals will the 991.2 GT3 buyers put on their cars? Those black air vents are prominent. The "R" double stripes would probably line up with them nicely. The other "single centered" and the "single off to the side" stripes may not work at all. Can't see the martini working either. This car may look best with just the side decals only? Thoughts???

It sure needs some dress up but I never been a fan of look a like. Wish Porsche would offer the stripe option similar to R but not the same as R.

Dear Eduardo, Any pictures on Pantone 296C? It's now on the approved 991 PTS list. What's your thought on that?

Thank you

Sure. Does not everyone have a
photo of 'Pantone 296C'? This
one I keep in my wallet, next
to a photo of my dear wife!

An adventurous soul from
Oregon ordered his 981
Spyder in this unique color.
Wait...I found more photos
of 'Pantone 296C' in my other
wallet! This is your lucky day!

It has been there for a while. And available
for the 718 model too!

I don't have any. It's a dark blue, solid/uni
color with no history at Porsche. What else
is there to say. Do you like it? That is all that
matters.

A bit of speculatuon, but I think that it is the difference between having a good body shop do the sprayout vs someone getting toch up paint or a spray can and putting it on some metal.

I think it was $400 to have the body shop do it for me, but they will produce multiple samples to try to get the color exactly how I want it. Someone else was working on the color so I ended up not moving forward. This particular shop has had multiple colors approved by PAG in the past and some custom colors as well.

As always big thank you to Mr. Eduardo. Frankly it's On the dark side for my taste. My neighbor just spec this for his .2GT3. I am narrowing my PTS colors and getting close. The car was fully spec'd yesterday but need to close on PTS code. My SA said to get the color code communicated to PCNA ASAP. Saw a Panamera in Crayon and that color is simply amazing in person.

Eduardo how does 296C compare to Jeff Zwart's RS 4.0 in PTS 'Meerblau'! I've see Jeff's car in person too dark for me.

So many great PTS colours, but what a problem to have.

I don't think that was the problem in the case of
David's (djcxxx) request for 'Tangerine/BlutOrange'
to be approved as PTS. We asked 'Porsche Exclusive'
if it had a sample of color code 018 in their record
files & they replied in the 'affirmative'. In fact, they
sent us this exact photo of it:

So they knew the color & had the exact color
formula to recreate it for feasibility purposes.

I'll let David speak for himself, but I believe the
decision not to approve 'Tangerine/BlutOrange',
one of the most popular & historic colors in PAG's
early 911/914 history, was due to 'marketing'
reasons, not 'technical' ones (e.g. defective
sample, color fading, faulty coverage, etc)
.

The color could have been approved...but PAG
decided not to. Again, it had nothing to do with
the quality of the color sample supplied by Brumos,
which was David's dealer in Florida. I think 018
was not approved for the same reason these other
historical/vintage colors, 'Aubergine','Signal Orange'
& 'Continental Orange', were rejected!

I believe you have to be very familiar with the quirky
ways of the 'color fashionistas' (which are paid enormous
sums to come up with current 'in vogue' color palette
at PAG
) to truly understand the reasons why approval
of these FOUR vintage/historic colors were problematic!

If you think 'Patone 296C' is dark, 'Meerblau'
is darker!

I have not seen either in person. But 'Patone 296C' seems
lighter than 'Meerblau' in photos. Both appeal to the person
looking for 'understated elegance' in their choice of a PTS
color for their Porsche.
