Default GMG – Nine1won’s Ultraviolet 991 GT3RS

GMG – Nine1won’s Ultraviolet 991 GT3RS

Thank you to Nine1won for having his beautiful 991 GT3RS delivered to our Orange County facility recently. While in our care several GMG Signature-Series parts were installed on the car. As we know, Porsche designed the GT3RS to be a precise track weapon. However, there were a few concerns that needed addressing to allow for an unfiltered track-driving experience. Given the car will be seeing heavy track use we focused on increasing driver safety, and setting up the chassis with an ideal alignment.

Prior to us doing any work on the car, we shot some “before” photos. Ultraviolet is such a captivating color!

The first order of business was to carefully remove a number of the interior panels along with the light-weight bucket seats. This facilitated our installation of the GMG LMS Roll Bar in conjunction with a pair of GMG Sub-Strap Mounts. With these in place, we installed a pair of Schroth Profi II GT3 Belts. Each GMG Sub-strap mount offers a high-strength mounting point for the lower Schroth submarine-style straps. The popular GMG LMS Roll Bar provides an increase in chassis-stiffness and offers a great mounting point for the shoulder straps.

Harnesses shown attached to the roll bar.

At this point the interior was fully reassembled, and harnesses pre-adjusted. We retained the factory 3-point belts so Nine1won could opt to use them while driving on the street.

In addition to providing a safe cockpit for the driver, we went through the suspension to replace what was needed to set the chassis up for track use. GMG Front Adjustable Tie Rods were installed, along with our GMG Adjustable Thrust Arm Bushings. To round it out we bolted front and rear Tarett Adjustable Drop Links through the swaybars.

Here are the components spread out on the work bench.

GMG front adjustable Tie Rods.

GMG Thrust Arm Bushings and Tarret Drop Links in place.

Rear droplinks in place.

Installing these adjustable components, along with being able adjust the factory coilovers, allowed for us to finely tune the RS’s alignment on our in-house Hunter digital aligner.

We installed our WC-GT Center Section to accentuate the stock exhaust growl, and save some weight.

Lastly, we added a few aesthetic touches for a hint of extra character. 997-style GT3RS side graphics laid along the car's flanks, and a stylized “PORSCHE” decal added atop the rear wing. With the graphics in place, we took a few photographs of the finished car.

Upon taking delivery of the car, Nine1won opted to drive it straight up to San Francisco from our shop. His road trip included swinging by Buttonwillow before sidestepping west along scenic highway 58. He then caught the 101 north, and a total of seven and a half hours later he was home! A few days after his initial road trip he was out at Thunderhill, driving the car in earnest. Congratulations Nine1won for picking up a stunning car, we hope it serves you well for years to come!

We have extensive experience racing the 991 and modifying it for both track and street purposes. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment give us a call or send us an email.

Congrats! Can't wait to see what kind of times the car can pull off in the hands of someone who can drive!

Lol! That is very debatable, but if it gives me a chance behind the wheel, I'll play along! Lol!
