991 gt3 engine misfiring / letters
#107
I've got an F that was built a few months later and my SA has repeatedly told me that there have been no oil/engine related TSBs for my car. Has this one come out within the last month or so? Otherwise, I'm thinking it involved some bad parts that they were able to isolate based on the supply line. Kinda puzzled about this though.

If one estimated total production worldwide at 3300 units and subtracts the 785 units originally affected, what was held at factory for engine replacement (maybe 300 units) and the 300 odd 2016MY cars that were produced between July and Dec 2015 I would estimate around 1900 2015MY F engine cars in existence. This was by far the most prolific year as it was an uninterrupted year production with a lot of back orders...

785+300 also got an F engine, as a replacement to E. Didn't they? I have "1 of 785 limited edition", or, to be precise, rather "1 of 300 very limited factory edition" and I had an idea my recently rebuilt second engine was F.

I believe the 785 actually included the ones still at the factory (mine) which got the first replacement. I have the "E" in my VIN, but is there a stamp on the block or number on the certificate. Since '15's were on the assembly line, maybe mine has an "F" with a build date of 7/14? I simply assumed it was an "E" since it is a '14.

If 300 MY16 engines are G, then there should be 3000 F engines now, including the dead ones. As more than 20 dead engines were reported here, I'd assume about 100 dead Fs at the moment. And counting. Maybe Fs become collectables soon.

All engines recalled and at factory were E engines and they were replaced with E engines. I estimate around 1100 as the factory kept producing these beyond the stop sale date. The press release said 785 but the release out in early March and we know they kept rolling off the line till May. Maybe the 785 discussed took account of that and it may well have....
The majority of 991 GT3 engines are F produced from July 2014 to July 2015 approximately. Estimated approx 2000 units.
Total secondary failures are unknown and unreported but it nut be over 100 units world wide by now.

Yes. Any your is "numbers matching" to the chassis so will be rare ;-p. Our G replacement engines are not as they dont update the master file with these they are not a recall and considered a warranty replacement.

Oh boy, the used market for E/F cars will be interesting to watch in couple of years when warranty runs out. Even before then, I wouldnt touch these cars even at a discount because selling them will be a problem down the line.
These cars have hardly any miles, on average 7-8k miles before engine blows? Not very confidence inspiring.

I'm trying to get info about when my engine was replaced with second E. Dealer can't find any record about it in car history. They will send a request to PAG.
I see a record in service papers, saying "T7" on approx. 20000 km in the middle of 2014. There's no stamp next to it, just mileage, day and "T7". It think it might be the engine change. If it's true, then second engine lasted approx. 19000 km including 3000 track km.
