991 GT3 vs GT4

991 GT3 vs GT4
I have a 991 GT3 2014 with 6900 miles on. My local dealer has a GT4 brand new on the lot. IMG_2684.JPG
I've been trying to get a GT3RS without success. I love the idea of the GT4, but I already own a 981 Spyder. Is it dumb to do it now, should I wait for the GT3 991.2 manual? They're asking for 120 on the GT4
I really need some guidance.
I'm mostly in for the drive not the looks, or the status. I track my cars a few times a year but drive them hard all the time
Please advise

The GT4 is a great car on track and on the road. But not as great as the GT3.

and to help the other opinion side: if both would cost the same - which one would you choose?
and to bring some spice in: if both would have the same engine - which one would you choose?
OT: you own a 981 spyder already... wait for the 991.2 if a 100% MT stable needed...

I've owned both and both are great. Drove my GT4 this morning and I'm still smiling. Smiled every time I drove the GT3 too.
Can't go wrong.
Sorry, That wasn't helpful at all.

I have both and it's really hard to pick a favorite. I'm more of a mid engine type than 911 and I prefer MT. Also I don't like CLs. That said, I don't think I would give up the GT3 for a GT4. If you have a 981 Spyder I'd say keep the GT3.

The GT4 has too much overlap with the Spyder, IMO, for it to make much sense.

I had a 991 GT3 and traded it for the GT4. Have not one regret. The GT4 is awesome and so is the GT3. Only trade the GT3 if you just want/love a Manual. - and that is how it is. I just love manuals and the manual in this has got to be the best on the market. I find the GT4 to be more emotional/involving than/and the GT3 to have one of the best NA engines but clinical compared to the GT4.
If the GT4 had the GT3 engine at the same price - I would pay over MSRP for it and not the GT3.(love the mid-engine)

GT4 is not as fast as a GT3 on track.
Get a Mclaren 12C to go in a somewhat orthogonal vector of experience. Will probably lead you to a 675LT...so eyes wide open.

Had a chance to drive the GT4 recently.
Nice car, but compared to the GT3, it felt underpowered. Not that it is underpowered, but just in comparison to the GT3 it felt that way.
And, for what it's worth, I would only consider the GT4 if it had a PDK-S.

Maybe the next GT4 will get both the full torque and horsepower of the 991.1 Carrera engine(400hp 325 torque) as well as proper low gearing which is a torque multiplier, then I would definitely put the GT4 on my want list.
