AP said in one of his interviews that there might be room for both paths in the product line - one seeking a more visceral experience like the R, and one line built for track times (GT). If that strategy gets a green light it's possible MT versions may stick around for a little longer, no? At least that was the way I interpreted it. Now NA AND MT, that's a different story altogether...

Because there might not be a " next best thing " with a manual, but there's certainly going to be one with pdk/dct/dsg etc...

Yup!
Now that the development is done and paid for and demand proven to command a premium in the RS with the GT4, hyped with the 911R, that 6 speed manual GT4 and GT3 are going nowhere for a while. Turbo or not.

Yeah, not worried about that, see previous post.
They wont hand the manual US sales over to others that easily.

The manual is confirmed, real question is whether they will offer it with the single mass flywheel..

That seems likely to me as it costs less to produce and the option costs several thousands $$. Sign me up.

The more interesting option (which is unlikely) would be the Low Gear Ratio option. 6 gears is not enough with a Vmax of 200 mph and relatively limited torque.

That remain to be seen... BMW said the same thing, but the rumors are the new F90 M5 will be announced at Geneva next year and yes, you've guessed it : they've ditched the manual.

Gee...how many times do I have to report that the European dealers have already been given production dates of the GT3 and that it will have a manual box as an option. Believe me, it is happening.

And BTW, I am first in the list at my dealer for a PDK 991.2 GT3...and all this stuff about getting bored with a PDK GT3 is absolute baloney. No way I am ever getting bored with ripping thru the gears in a PDK.

Personally would want a manual, not because it will hold value but the way I would use the car which would be a weekend canyon type car so I really dont need the fastest shifts because I dont track my cars since there are no tracks where I live.

I will likely get manual but after having GT4 and GT3 may go PDK if I keep 4. Nice to hopefully have choices.

The only thing which reliably makes cars cheap are market crashes.
