Porsche Approved Oil List?
Hey guys I am going to be changing my own oil, and am looking for the latest Porsche approved oil list. Searched quite a few threads unsuccessfully, and Google was no help.
Anyone have a link?
I was going to go with Amsoil but wanted to confirm it was on the list.
Also, while I do live in Colorado, the car is never driven in anywhere close to freezing conditions. Probably 45 degrees would be the minimum. And I don't think my garage ever gets below 30 degrees.
Given this situation, would 0W-40, 5W-40, or 5W-50 make the most sense? I am not tracking the car (yet). I was thinking maybe blend 0W-40 and 5W-50. Any thoughts?

validity of our engine oil approvals. The period of validity is between 2 and 3 years. The expiration date of

Miscibility:
All engine oils approved by Porsche can be mixed provided they are of the same Porsche oil
specification. This means that it is not necessary to flush the engine when the oil is changed if another
type of oil is used. However, since every brand of oil has a specially adapted unique composition, the same
brand and type of oil should be used for topping up between oil change intervals if possible.

specification. This means that it is not necessary to flush the engine when the oil is changed if another

I am wondering if I should just keep running 0W-40, given the fact that I think cold starts are going to be a much bigger factor in engine wear then high temp tracking will at this point.

If you never track, 0W-40 might be better choice (AMSOIL only in 5W-40 if that's your preference though). I guess factory fill is Mobil 1 0W-40. Motul X-Max 0W-40 is also on that list...

I use to use the Motul Xcess-8100 5w-40 and now use the Mobil 1 0w-40 in the winter and Mobil 1 5w-50 in the summer. The oil changes are so easy and the deals out there right now ( $12 rebate on 5 qts ) on Mobil 1 make it too good to pass up.

I have 4,200 miles on the car now, and the break-in oil change was done at 2,010. I might do the next oil change when the odometer reads 5,000, and then do every 5,000 after that, just to make the intervals easy. If I did use Mobil 1, a DIY oil change would cost around $100 each time, although I am going to get the best oil, not the one I can save a few bucks on.
