GT3RS vs 918 on track
Some well-shot helmet-cam video at AMP with one of our instructors driving a gt3rs with the group's 918 on tail (you can see it in rearview quite a few times). You think you have a clue how to drive until an instructor gets behind the wheel and places car on exact same spot on track at each turn.. Then you realize you have no clue, you were just guessing.
GT3RS had an amazing front-end... Such a pleasure. Totally planted and forgiving until you really screw up. Telepathic and fast automatic shifter, paddles unnecessary. Not much torque anywhere except the very top. Epic sound at high revs... Ultimate track car.. favorite of gt3rs/Speciale (not in video) and 918. Less comfortable then others to drive to track and back on normal roads but quite manageable.
918 like the world's most overpowered go-kart. Makes you believe you're a driving God until you hit the brakes a little late going downhill on front straight from 140mph into hairpin.. Then the heavy batteries take a toll. Unbelievable feel for such a heavy car, engineering masterpiece... No idea though how to make it dance... I now believe Chris Harris IS a driving God.
These cars are meant for the track.. Not garage queening and valet posing. Weapons. Epic day.
Enjoy the video

This was a private track day, no timing, just a few friends enjoying private cars. Sorry no telemetry, "just for fun"

1:24.5 is screaming. I think Cass Whitehead posted a similar time in a stock GT3. I haven't been able to get below a 1:28. Would love to see that data, but I'm running a Solo DL.

Here is Earl Bamber last week at one of our local tracks taking out a few Porsche 911 owners for fast laps in 918. It ts a Porsche dealer training day. He clocks consistent 1.36 in the 918 with passenger! Ive only had one dry track day here in the 991 GT3 with a 1.42.16 with passenger (its good for 1.40.6 without passenger in my hands - tops). Bamber took out a customers 991 GT3 for a hot lap around 1.39.5 Im told. I should say he had a bit more in him. The RS was there but he didnt drive it. I should say 1-1.5s faster. So the 918 is at least a 1.35 without a passenger and likely 1.34 or less if he was going for it. 991 Cup here is around 1.32-1.33 on a cool dry day with a good club racer...
