I was given a June 2016 allocation. Does this mean a June delivery or a June build? When are the PTS being built?

wow. June 16 build. that's far away
best I can tell the way PTS works (kind of a mystery) is that you get a spot early (months in advance), but they all get batched together at the end of the year.
i currently have a signal green 16 gt3rs that is scheduled production in December. and from what I can tell on here, that is when everyone else with PTS is getting built. but those cars were locked with PTS a long time ago. so maybe you will get lucky and they are going to open up another PTS window. that would be different than what we know/conventional wisdom.
but my dealer has said for a while that there will be a final small batch of gt3rs coming through, and that seems to be happening now

many of us have owned lots of porsches... but your CGTs put you in a category beyond what some of us have been able to afford... :-) So I cannot speak to that.

BTW. Love your color selection. That what an RS should look like. Loud and outrageous. Good luck with yours and share pictures when you get it.

PTS...
Current model year production (e.g. MY2015) has been ending in recent years in May.
This year, the bulk of MY2016 production will end earlier because PAG is shifting early to
build the face-lifted .2 991, which is expected to be all MY2017. But this year, for example,
all June 2015 991 production was MY2016...not MY2015.
There are questions regarding if PAG will continue to build certain models like the .1 991
gt3 RS & the .1 981 gt4 beyond the Spring into Summer of 2016...and what model year
PAG will call these late builds. PAG could technically continue .1 991 gt3 RS production
into the Summer & Fall of 2016 with the pre-facelift .1 991 look and call it a MY2017.
That is assuming the engines' emissions & noise standards are still valid at those dates
vis a vis their intended sales market.
PTS production is controlled by different criteria of which we know very little (in fact).
PTS is run by series production and it's not a 'Porsche Exclusive' option or service. The
PTS folks (whomever they are) receive estimates of PTS demand from the global sales
organization & tries to prepare for it (sort of). Its usually estimated at 1% or less of
production (they are clearly underestimating the demand, as we well know in this forum).
The PTS window usually starts at the beginning of the ordering process for the new Model
Year. That means pretty soon (Dec or Jan) for US dealer ordering MY2017 regular .2 991s.
Once those slots are assigned (usually first come, first served) to dealer & custom customer
orders, the PTS window closes for that particular model and...no more PTS for that Model
Year. The PTS 'window' varies for each model according to the PTS capacity of each of the
paint facilities at the various PAG assembly factories. The PTS window for the MY2016 .1
991 gt3 RS in Zuffenhausen closed on July 6th 2015. The one for the Cayman .1 981 gt4 in
Osnabrück closed on July 24th, 2015. The one for the .1 981 Spyder in Zuffenhausen closed
on July 31st 2015. The PTS window for MY2016 .1 991 gt3s (a short production run) was in
fact never opened. There are no PTS MY2016 gt3s!
I don't expect PAG to allow any additional PTS for the balance of MY2016 production, which
I expect to end on all models by May of 2016 if history is a guide. The balance of the already
approved PTS for the .1 991 gt3 RS, gt4s and Spyders are yet to be built. So it's not like they
are finding out they have more capabilities to do PTS than they expected...and can add some
more. Last year PAG surprised everyone with the late '15 gt3s allocations of 30 PTS cars done
in only three colors - 'Signal Green', 'Arena Red Metallic' and 'Fashion Grey'. But that was not
a re-opening of a PTS window (which closed for MY2015 in the early Fall of 2014)...it was just
an odd favor that PAG did for PCNA & a few lucky dealers!
Regardless, good luck with your RS allocation in calendar year 2016.

In theory, PTS can be done anytime during the Model Year production run with a three month advance notice
& preparation. So if the paint is ordered three month in advance of your specific build date, PAG can get PTS
done. It takes three months to coordinate the logistics of it all - from accepted PTS order to build date. Remember
that some parts of a 991 or 981 are painted outside PAG facilities by vendors & suppliers in the 'Just in Time' &
'Just In Sequence' assembly method! Many regular MY2016 991 & 981 (non gt3 RS, non gt4, non 981 Spyders)
have already been done in PTS & delivered to customers this year. For reasons not yet fully explained by Porsche,
PAG has been delaying PTS in these three specific models (see below) beyond the normal:
***
special requests by VIP's...but we can't talk about them in public, right? But just a simple Carrera GT...or two? Please!

Christopher John:
Congratulations! This is the first I have heard of re-opening the PTS window on the gt4...so that's great!
Two Questions for You:
A) Is it a VIP slot for PTS not normally available to most other customers?
And
B) Are they considering your gt4 allocation a late MY2016? Or is it an early MY2017?
Because I didn't think PAG has committed to MY2017 production on the gt4 as of this date!
So that would be 'news'!
