I'd say every one has their choice to do whatever they like to do with their purchases. If that's owning a vehicle and transporting it to an event because of potentially putting on miles that's their own prerogative.

I think many of us have potentially been there. When I was younger I owned an E39 M5 which to me was was quite special. The first couple of years I drove it any chance I could get but as time progressed I started getting concerned of getting it dirty, catching rock chips or even getting it dinged up in parking lots. The last year of owning it I put 500kms on it at which point I knew she had to go. I had to pull myself out of that state and the only way out was with change.

After that experienced any vehicle I owned I've used to its full extent. As mentioned before by others, these a depreciable assets and that's simple a fact. We purchase them for the joy, the experience and the smile on our face after driving.

Everyone is different and some may get the same joy of simple looking at it sitting peacefully sealed in their garage.

Most of us on the forum I believe purchase the vehicles for the ride, it's capabilities and the grin it creates afterwards.

local 991 gt3 owners think i am insane for putting almost 12k miles on mine since december..

dealers are selling the cars over sticker, 10-15k. 14s are going for sticker.. who cares!

your ahead of the game if you ask me, drive it and enjoy it.. if you sell a 991 GT3 with 5k miles or 15k miles.. what would the price difference be? 5k? 8k? i'm pretty sure the watch your wrist costs more than that.

Pdudek - agree. However like you said it is a depreciable asset. You can't assume the value will go up in your lifetime so why not enjoy it.

Regardless of how you feel about the cars I just can't get my head around trail wrong it for approx 200-250 miles for a driving event to then not want to drive it. There are other factors I won't get into but it wasn't necessarily an event the car should have been at regardless of whether you would drive it.

I used to be in that mind set of trying to keep miles off the car for resale values. But at the end of the day you are losing what? a few thousand dollars after years of ownership? thats a drop in the bucket compared to what most of us will make in our lifetimes. Hell I take my GTR grocery shopping... full boost, e85, 10mpg.

Life is too short to drive boring cars.

Depreciation on a 991 GT3, last of your worries. The 991 GT3 is holding its value just about better than any other newer car I am aware of so drive and enjoy the car! Will more miles depreciate the car further yes, but that is why you purchased the car is to enjoy it. My car has 2300 miles after 8 months and I am trying to find the time to drive it more. I don't car about resale being the GT3 is soo strong on resale it allows me to drive and not think about it.

Now if you were driving a modern day Ferrari over 10k miles well that is a different story

In support of the 3 holding its value, I just got out of mine to get my RS. Basically, it cost me $500 a month to put over a thousand miles a month since I picked it up.... Including 9 track days. And I had a '14 w/ the replaced engine.

So it's like driving a Honda Civic.... With a little more pep...

Driving it is worth a lot more than that.

From my point of view, it needs to be driven for the complete "experience". That said, how many of you have cracked a beer open in the garage sat down and stared a the artistic lines from the front to the rear, the elegant wing in the back or simply the squinting tail lights. There is a way of appreciating these cars from a stationary perspective.

There are plenty of Ducati's hanging on walls, not being driven but being used as a depreciating piece of art.

My 07 RS has a little over 12,000 on the clock since I got it new. I trailer it everywhere and only drive it a few miles on weekends. I need to post a pic of the dash. Over half a tank of fuel and it says 66 miles to empty.
