This^. Makes zero sense to come out with a small limited edition car unless your having some issues moving inventory and we all know that's not a problem right now. Now if the markets keep crashing who knows.

GT cars are, whether we like it or not, hood ornaments (read: halo cars).
They make you take notice of the brand, not to make money for the company. Not directly, at least.

heres my guess, new 991.2, m3 competitor concept car, GT4 RS and a maybe a mid engine Ferrari fighter, 4L or 4.2 Liter GT3s of any kind would be a gift to customers, R and D and prod costs up less profit. ALso they want you to buy a new 991.2 instead of waiting for the GT3 version

FYI.... read comment on EVO re Special Edition Naturally Aspirated non GT 911's...... makes a lot of sense to me..... both for customers and for Porsches profitability....

Wonder if this will be like 2011 with the Speedster , GT2 RS , and GT3 RS 4.0 - can't recall there ever being so many specials in a model year . I'm hoping for Fefi , special narrow body , and the '' Final Edition RS'' or whatever that turns out to be .

Some dealers in Europe are taking speculative deposits on a possible 991 gt3 RS '4.4' Limited Edition.
That model would be in the mold of the .2 997 gt3 RS '4.0' Limited Edition that Porsche built in 2011.
If the current gt3/RS naturally aspirated engine might not survive regulatory approval beyond a date
certain, it might explain why Porsche is compressing the time it would normally take to announce a
Limited Edition for this model. After all, we had a MY2007 .1 997 gt3 RS, a MY2008 .1 997 gt3 RS, a
MY2010 .2 997 gt3 RS and a MY2011 .2 997 gt3 RS before they announced the final MY2012 .2 997
gt3 RS '4.0' Limited Edition. But if this N/A engine is being phased out due to regulations (Emissions
& FIA/ACO racing regs) in the near future, it's not surprising for Porsche to move up their plans for a
final 'Limited Edition' model!
