Oil change - whats the current thinking on oil
Hey guys ...
I've got the alert to change oil in the next few weeks and before I order, I wanted to see what the current oil selection is being recommended? Car is not tracked.
Thank you

I have no opinion but am also looking for answers in this thread for new-to-me 3RS.
The previous owner indicated he used LiquiMoly Molygen 5/40, with MOSo2 every change, and an occasional bottle of Ceratec, from 3,140 miles til 17,120 miles, then changed to LM Toptec 5/40 for the next 2k miles until selling the car to me.
I dont know why the formula change was made or anything about the specific oils but its nice to have a starting point and the general history of my car.

I used Mobil 1 0W40 4 quarts with 2.5qts (aprox) of Racing Mobil 1 0W50 to get the ZDDP to about 1400 PPM. Now with 40k miles and out of warranty I use 5 quarts Mobil 1 15W50 and 1.5 quarts 0W30 Mobil 1 Racing. Engine runs fantastic and my cams look like new.

Since you’re out of warranty, you have more freedom to do as you like. Probably some good options with Motul, LiquiMoly, and Driven.
If one wanted to stick with the Porsche recommended stuff, make sure you use the new “C40 GT” stuff that is made especially for the high revving GT cars.

To the original question for a .1 GT3 RS.
If approvals are important to you and you're in CA, then either Mobil 1 FS X2 5w50 or Motul Xcess Gen 2 5w40. I would not run Mobil 1 0w40. It shears down quickly to a 0w30 leading to increased wear.
If approvals are not important to you, Mobil 1 Supercar5w50, Driven DT40 or DI40, Motul 300V 5W40.
.1 GT3 RS here, and I have Mobil 1 5w50 Supercar ready to go in next oil change.

I’m about to do my first oil change on a 991.2.
Looks like Motul 5w40 8100 xcess seems to be a common recommendation, going to try that. I’m in CT and don’t really drive the car below 40F
EDIT: Also seems Liqui Moly Leichtlauf 5W-40 is also a common recommendation

If my warranty was expired, I would also take a look at Motul 300V Racing oil
