Ferrari 488 reviews now available...O/T

Having watch a lot of CH's videos he doesn't really appear that enthusiastic about this car.
Further, it's uglier than the 458 in my opinion & turbocharged for the government. I bet 458 values start to firm up a bit from the freefall that they've seemingly been in.

I have watched a few of those vids...
Weird how to all use the same "drone" view of the hair pin

I liked the sound and the looks - I think it looks more brawnier and more sculpted with those lines on the hood than the 458. And having heard the F12, I don't think I'll miss the 458's sound much. I think it's definitely a good replacement to the 458 considering that they have to keep up with McLaren's torquey engines. But yeah, it looks like an evolution rather than 430->458 revolution.

Finally a Ferrari I'd like to buy. Not since the 288GTO and F40 have I been interested in one until now. And I don't mind the sound.....after all I have to listen to the drone of my GT-R all the time

Funny that in none of the videos did they fully remove the stability control. Must not have been allowed. They all raved about the SSC2 but none of them commented on how the car handled beyond the limit with no stability control.
Evo said what I felt most other reviewers felt based on their expressions:
"However, the sharpness and sense of drama is diminished slightly and the 488 sometimes has that McLaren 650S trait of only really feeling exciting at ridiculous speeds. On the track it’s fantastic but on the road there’s no question that it isn’t quite as immersive as before. It’s a leap on in terms of absolute performance but a slight regression in terms of involvement."
This makes me think that the Speciale will still remain as my favorite Ferrari of all time.

You really cannot judge sound until you hear it in person. I suspect the sound is fine but not as good as a NA Ferrari.
BTW, in two years I put 15,000 miles on my 430 Spider. However, when I sold it I took a hit on depreciation. Ferrari in part has eliminated the downside of high mileage Ferrari's with their seven year warranty on all their new models.

One shocker as far as Ferrari ownership is concerned is insurance costs. While my '14 Ferrari is double the cost of my '15 Gt3, the insurance cost is 3 times more for the same coverage, deductibles and rating class (pleasure use). GT3..$860.00 per year, '14 458 Italia...$2,600.00 per year..Ouch !
