Thanks for posting!
I totally agree with AP! I've been saying it for a long time : " Where will the HP war end ? " Lighter is key!
Ring times are a waste, unachievable by mere mortals.

Great article. Love the commentary on ring times. Is the manual coming back? Cool stuff.

Good read! I agree. These cars have gotten so good that Weight to HP is the next big thing. Could you imagine a 2700 lb RS with 550 HP and a manual box? Sign me up!

The irony is that these conclusions could (and should) have been reached in 2013 when the 991 GT3 was introduced and we'd have two transmissions and probably a lighter car as well.

now the challenge is to push as much as possible current engine and then drop as much as possible useless weight...
PDK-S will drop 60 kg.
afterwards it is carbon fiber every where and lighter chassis...see the cost $$$$$$$

You can say that again! Got behind a Hellcat Challenger SRT the other day on a winding road.
It was almost comical went he came to turn.
Big big HP and massive torque but not good on turns. Sort of like the MIG 21 "Fishbed". It could do Mach 2, but not good at turning.

I don't think I'd want to be sitting on a $200K+ GT3RS when they announce the manual 991.2 RS a few years later...

That said the whole residual value thing is tiresome too.

All the stuff a few of us have been preaching for years on this forum. Nice to see they're starting to listen.

No disrespect to AP, but maybe he should worry more about making a car faster than the GTR (the new one will probably be crazy fast) and Z06 than complaining about a hp war. Besides, until recently, the turbo models had been pretty competitive on HP alone. Sorry to say it, but smaller displacement turbo is the future. AP is a relic. The smaller engines make more HP, tq, and are lighter.
