Thought you guys would like to see the install and how the sub bar works out.





Shop was full of cars from their recent tour of tracks in California and COTA. Two McLarens in addition to multiple Porsche's and other cars.



My Cage before install- really nice mat finish.



Here they are the sub bars- just the third set they have made so far.

The sub bar needs to clear various items under the seat and still allow full range of motion for the height adjustment. Very clever engineering!

Oh, by the way you can remove the Schroth buckle easily and it makes it possible to stuff your center belts under the seat without removing the seat cushion from the front edge.

The buckle has a hole you press the release in with a narrow punch and you can then remove it.

Saw your work so far- you are on the home stretch! Good job! Are the seats hard to remove? Reason I ask, is that Justin suggested that once the plates are in, removing the cage is not hard if you want the rear access between track days.

Can you send a link to the punch that you used to release the buckle from the sub belt? That would be nice to put on the track tool thread.

I wish I knew, it's a hand me down. I would say that a small fine phillips screw driver of sufficient length should work just a well. You are depressing the latch, even though the hole is small, the latch is fairly large so you just need something stout enough to press it down to release the buckle.

Could you post a pic of what you're talking about? Schroth told me they could modify the buckles so that they stayed attached to a lap belt instead of the sub belt to help with the 991 issue of them not tucking away easily, but they didn't mention that you could just use a small tool to temporarily remove the buckle entirely! Does the sub belt buckle just click back in afterward, and then needs the tool again if you want to remove it? (fully reversible)

Yes it's fully reversible and it's just a hidden latch.

I will try to take some pictures today.

Justin is a real pro at installing the bars. I wish I had a day with him before tackling mine, It would have cut my install time in half.
