First flat...
At first I thought it was a pothole but my son noticed the nail in the tire when he came to pick me up.
Porsche roadside couldn't help me because the towing companies they use can't come down to Jones Beach (where I was stranded). Luckily the company I called was very good and knew how to properly flatbed the car. It's at the dealer overnight.

Found a nail in my front tire this weekend. So awesome...500 miles. Going to take it the my local exotics tire repair shop tomorrow so they can see if they can plug it. The nail is in the middle of the tire. Thoughts on plugging it?

As a former Long Islander I got several flats and pot hole damage to tires. Moved out of NY and not a single incident. Low profile tires/low car is just a headache driving on those roads. Road hazard insurance is a must on LI. At least it was only a tire and not your rim.

I'll know tomorrow, as that is where the nail is in mine as well.

I would use a plug patch. I would not run just a plug except on an emergency basis. I would not run it patched on the track. My dealer told me that Porsche does not recommend a patched tire. My tire and wheel ins just bought a new tire for my Turbo at no cost to me.

You don't want to plug it. You want a good patch glued on from the inside under the puncture. If your shop doesn't have a tire machine to pull the tire without damaging the wheel finish and or tire, take it to your dealer. Plugging your tire is something you do with a beater 1990's sheet box. Plugs are not safe for hi performance tires/cars.

On our highland soon last weekend I clipped a pothole/rock at speed and damaged the side wall. 1 psi leak per minute but in the middle of nowhere in Scotland it was an issue. I was carrying my little 12v compressor so made to fill up stops to make the 15 miles back to our hotel. Then drained the tyre of air and filled the small sidewall split with normal super glue, left it overnight and refilled in the morning allowing me to make the 210 mile journey home. Top tip keep super glue handy.....

OK dealer says since I have the insurance they'll only do a full replacement. Only 1 other tire in the US right now, has to be shipped from CA. 2 day wait for it to be mounted and ready.

Cool - better off with a new tire. Did you also wrap your side mirrors in black?
