well now, there u have it... all of our worst fears confirmed by the most honest of the internet reviewers...
...engine just ordinary
...gearing not right
...suspension can use tweaks
...gt3 much much better and faster
It's OK, I am still getting one!
But this gives some the perfect reason to forfeit their build slots, and those who do want them will have a better shot at a first run stick shift car...

Very surprising. I thought he'd go nuts over it.

Thanks for the link! Good read and nice to see photos of the GT4 in several colours I'd not seen on that car yet. Red is stunning. White is clean and shows off the car well too IMO. Can't say I'm disappointed with his review, since he is comparing it to the GT3 after all, and that's a pretty high bar. As an "entry level" GT car, it sounds like the GT4 is still a winner overall. Can't wait to hear real owners' reviews!

"The Sport Chrono package comes with the potential for a lap-timing device and a superb integrated performance monitoring and video App which customers will love."
Ya right, good one Harris.

Really nothing new here unfortunately, the regular 3.8L is already widely regarded to be less free revving than the 3.4L in the base Carrera and Cayman S/GTS. Gearing was obvious from press release and would rather see comparisons to cars like the Z/28 and 350R than the GT3 that are in the same price point.
Porsche didn't build it to compete against the GT3, otherwise they would be priced the same.

Well, the good news is the setup he prefers (loosen the front and tighten the back) is pretty easy to do. Others will prefer different setups for their own home tracks.
Next bit of good news is the second confirmation now that street use is not that terribly compromised.
I can't wait to see comparisons other sub $100k cars.

To some extent the GT4 enthusiasm was a continuation of the PDK vs MT debate with the GT4 carrying the banner of the "pure" sports car with its MT only configuration and Motorsports imprimatur. The GT4 is a worthy offering for a more track focused mid engine Porsche but w/o a bespoke Motorsport engine as in the GT3 and GT3 RS it cannot claim to be a true Motorsports car anymore than a Turbo look Carrera was a Turbo.

But by your logic neither have the PAG Motorsports pedigree, whatever that means. To me, the proof is in the driving, no less no more.

This is actually a very good review. If any of us GT3 Owners thought it would be in the same league, or close, to the GT3 we would be crazy and then we would hang Porsche for hanging us out to dry.
They will sell all of these because there is quite a lot of people that do not have the means to afford/access to a GT3. This car is priced to sell and definitely an entry point in to GT ownership/experience.
I would not sell my GT3 for this but this may not be a terrible option if I had extra room in my garage for it but why not buy a Corvette Z07????? - I know - because it is not a Porsche - that is why it will sell.
