Is it just me or the angle of the snow car in the picture? This cars ride height appears considerably lower than the lava Geneva car.

I don't think so. Think about the motion of the wheel and how debris would be pushed in the opposite direction to the vanes.

Air would actually flow differently from debris as the car is essentially traveling through it and hence, it appears to be going back. (Relative to the car)

I'm sure they have millions of miles of tests between this car and the 997R.

Removing the mesh on track will increase their effectiveness.

I still don't get the idea of "removing the mesh". Look at the front mesh on the GT3R. They don't remove that for better flow. They may make the hole bigger, so when 99.5% flows through it, it still gives them the desired flow goal. I just need to see it to believe it. There has been confusion from interviews before.

After seeing that snow pic, I bet the top of the vents are blocked by "faux" mesh, and the skinny part is left open all the time. And when you desire the increase in downforce, you remove the blocked part. After seeing the GT4 video, they show how the front aero can be changed. And it would make sense, if one can change the rear aero effectiveness, why not allow you to play with the front aero.

I see the mesh on the 991 RS fender vents as more restrictive than the mesh on the front of the GT3R if that's what you were referring to.

Not correct. For the third time, these vents are NOT blocked. You can see straight down through the slats and mesh to the tire. How effective the aero is with the mesh in, and how effective the mesh is at blocking debris, I have no idea. But the mesh does prevent fingers and other objects from being in contact with the tire tread, and I believe that is why it is there.

Common guys, what's a few chips when you're getting some great downforce? All kidding aside, this can be disastrous for the paint. I bet PAG has it figured out. I wouldn't worry.

Take a closer look at the pics posted by NIZER. "TO ME", The wide part of the vent is half blocked, is it not? The inside half of the widest part of the venting is not open to the wheel. I think this is what AP was referring to. It is an adjustable aero for the front.

I adjusted the picture a bit to make it more clear for us all what we are discussing.

Credit goes to MECH33. He was at the show and was kind enough to post detailed photos.

Plenty more in his thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3/...otor-show.html
