pS I learned is your thermostat is stuck in open its not bad for the car as the engine will run cold. To get it to unstick and function properly you need to leave the car idling after a quick and fast run, as the temperature reaches the typical range where it usually opens 103 Celsius it will trigger the thermostat which is already open. When the temp drops again it should now function correctly. It worked for me (found the solution by accident)...

FWIW on all my 997GT3's the thermostat was replaced, but only for the dealer to discover that it was the transcooler valve itself.

I told them that each time before throwing thermostats at the car but Porsche thermostats go bad so often they automatically replace that first.
Really annoying because it took about 40 miles for the code to re appear, so back to the dealer to pickup a Nissan Sentra loaner....

Update:
PAG wants the thermostat housing replaced, so that part needs to be shipped from Germany. Hopefully car will be back next week. Another week of driving a Panamera S Hybrid!

Sorry to hear.

But look on the bright side, you'll be in your RS before you know it!

That's the fix that I just got. Brought it in on a Monday and got it back on a Friday. My understanding though was that the parts were coming from the East Coast.

David. The thermostat has repeatedly happened on every model andvariance of 991 & 981 since they were built. There were even thrmostat issues on later 997 cars. If the RS has a thrmostat chances is it will fault. I cant believe how many thrmostat and housings we have to go through to get this right. Luckily its under warranty but when that ends the housing and the thermostat are almost almost $1000 I have been told!

Default Engine Control fault & coolant temp indicator fault

I experienced Engine Control Fault & Coolant Temp indicator fault the other day. Managed to get it back home after the noisy fans kicked in. Called the dealer and tried to take it in on Tuesday. The car started and then turned itself off so I had to flatbed the car to the dealer. I have 3500 miles on it bought it December 20114 as a model year 15. Just wondering if anyone experienced and had it resolved. It is at the dealer as thy try to diagnose. I will keep veryone posted but very disappointed.

You either have a faulty thermostat or a faulty temperature sensor. The computer sees the fault and puts the fans on high to protect the engine.
The car was running rough because the computer is using the temperature sensor to adjust fuel.
You'll have it back in no time.

+1 Should be a simple fix. Mine has yet to go out (same delivery time as yours), but it is expected. Much better than the "misfire code"

Ahh. This makes sense. Thanks very much! The dealer seems perplexed which worried me a bit. Heard from this morning and they are still diagnosing. It has been there being diagnosed since Tuesday!

I hope to have it back soon!
