Have you guys encountered a high pitch wooing noise when the car is lift? It sounds like the harmonic feedback when you hold a microphone close to a speaker. It lasted approx 10 seconds and then went away.

When the lift system operates the shocks are pressurized from the holding reservoir. The compressor will eventually come on to bring the reservoir back up to nominal pressure. This frequently happens after the car has been sitting for a while and some pressure has bled out of the system. I'm pretty sure the noise you're hearing is the compressor in operation. It's definitely audible from inside the car.

Another noise associated with the lift comes from the front suspension when the car is moving at slow speed; especially when turning. This is discussed on page 138 in the manual and is also normal.

-When raised, the damping properties of the
front axle change and noise may be heard in
the area of the front axle coil springs during
steering movements.
– The doors must be closed when lowering the
front axle.
– The blowing-off procedure may result in
system-related hissing noise. This does not
represent a malfunction in the lift system.
– During extended vehicle immobilisation, the
pressure accumulator may be completely
emptied. In this case, the first time the axle is
raised, a period of up to 2 minutes may elapse
before the vehicle height is reached and
“Vehicle front lifted” is displayed.

Fadi1 and myself are having this sound too. Only difference his doesnt occur when the lift is activated only when backing up. In my case I get it while backing up and turning to the left and on some occasions as mentioned here when the lift is activated.
The occurrence seems random, it doesnt happen all the time, yet when it does its quite noticeable and disappears as you pick up speed. This might be a normal thing, just like the chatter at idle and bouncy rpm.......who knows. But for the time being Fadi1 has his car at the service center to try to figure out whats the cause (if truly its a malfunction of some sort) and will update if they do ever find an issue.

When the compressor is activated to fill the reservoir it makes a vrmm.....vibratory kind of a sound similar to my Range rover. The hissing sound mentioned in the manual is heard when air is released to drop the car. The first paragraph from what u mentioned talks about a sound(although they dont describe it) due to a change in properties of the front axle could be whats causing the WOOOO sound. Time will tell if this is a normal issue or some sort of malfuntion.

When I was younger I used to design front end cooling modules for Ford. Random noise or unpleasant sharp pitch shouldn't be normal. Houston, we "may" have a problem.

Its not sharp pitched, its exactly like this WOOOOOO........

I wouldnt call it a problem as of yet, might be totally normal, given all the weird noises this beast makes. My friend sat in the car and at idle he was swearing trying to convince me that the chatter is a major issue in the engine, yet all here and at Porsche will tell you the idle chatter that disappears as u move is totally normal.

So far lift is functioning 100 %, suspension and handling is a 100%, no issues at all except for the WOOO noise. Some are accusing the drop in temp to cause this sound. Who knows.

Just spoke to the dealer. The pump failed, and needs to be replaced. Apparently, this is the 2'nd GT3that they have seen this issue on. AND...the part is in Germany only (of course) and probably won't be here until mid/end of week.....Oh well....
