It will be here on Monday. I'm taking Monday and Tuesday off to detail the car and install the bypass.

I just finished correcting the paint. Oh man, this thing came out great! I must say this has been my finest work.

I needed to remove the wing and compound the engine deck lid and wing. The rest of the car only needed a finishing polish after decon.

Also, I installed the Sharkwerks Bypass and Tips. I didn't want to take the car out with all of bugs after dark, so I'm not sure what it sounds like yet.

I have several hours of video that I need to edit and get uploaded, so stay tuned.

How does your brand new car need paint correction and finishing polishing already??

Hang out in our Concours Forum, and you'll see many examples why. Most of the damage is done by the dealerships as they prep the cars for delivery. But not all. The factory too.

At the very least new car will almost always need to be decontaminated from shipping. The dealers don't have the resources to spend 15 hours properly prepping the paint.

I was surprised that my most all of my paint was in good shape accept the rear engine lid and wing. There were a bunch of straight line scratches and a pretty nasty hologram. I'm guessing the scratches came from the factory wet sanding. You don't normally get straight lines from washing of drying. I'm guessing they were factory installed because the rest of the car wasn't in bad shape.

But to answer your question, I've never seen a new car that doesn't need to be corrected. Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, etc.

Default Sapphire Blue vs. Monte Carlo Blue

I was out at Cars and Coffee on Sunday. We decided to pull the two Monte Carlo Blue M5s next to my Sapphire Blue 911. There are varying shades to both colors depending on the angle and lighting. In person, the Sapphire is just a tiny bit darker blue. If you are thinking Sapphire and can't see one in person, find an M5 in Monte Carlo. It is very, very close.

Hey Money,

Will you be doing some form of detailing write up?

Interested to see before and after, 50/50, usual decontamination photos, pad and polish combo etc etc

I too am a bit of a detail nut.

FYI, love the detail that you put into your posts, it really gives people like me a great picture of your ownership experience.

Cheers

I'm uploading the videos right now. I decided to do a video series rather than a photo write-up. So when you're ready to waste 3 hours of you life, grab some popcorn and get ready to make fun of some goofy dude talking about his passion.

Thanks Money - do you have a purchase list for materials? Lastly, where does waxing come to play in all this?

Are you going to put any film protection?

Thanks and great job!

I'll write up a product list tonight when I post the videos. I don't like clear film, so I don't do it on my cars.

Waxing is the very last step.
