Default GTS

Seems the GTS has been officially announced.

Summary:
GTS = Carrera 2S/4S Plus
GTS != GT3 lite

Featured Specs:
- wide 4S chassis
- X51 w/PSE & Sports Chrono
- PASM
- CL Wheels matte black
- Sport Design front facia
- Sport Design mirrors
- matte exhaust tips
- PDLS 'smoked'
- Alacantara interior
- GTS engine cover

All the chatter over on the 991 forum was that the GTS would include more of the halo features from the GT3 including rear wheel steering and the PDK-S. My GT3 is due in early January and I am happy to see Porsche maintaining a healthy separation between the GT3 and the GTS.

The press release doesn't specify, but it seems that the PASM suspension is carried over from the C2S/C4S cars. Also no mention of lift or electronic-diff / PTV+. Likely to appear on the configurator in the next couple of days.

Only item I'm envious of is the matte black finish on the wheels

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS written across the back? That's excessive.

Looks more like a optioned out 911S then a GT3 lite to me.

It's merely the same engine as the 50th 911.

The GT3 looks like a bargain next to the MSRP of this car!

+1000.

Engine, suspension and trans alone aren't in the same league.

Should be no surprise, look at the Cayman GTS. Basically just a parts bin exercise, albeit with some minor improvements. You get a number of options as standard for a savings, should you option a regular "S" model the same way.

The GTS is a good deal though, if you are considering a 911S.

+1

The GTS appears to be positioned so as to be significantly different to the GT3. I think Porsche probably got it right.

IMO, it enahnces the 991 GT3's unique characteristics (which will not be replicated on higher volume cars) and propels it into the realm of being something "special". This time around Porsche really got things right with the GT3!

Didn't the cayman GTS need as extra gts interior package to get the GTS interior? Pdk is a 4k option. Center lock wheels another 2-3k and etc etc...

Out the door will be closer to a 130k car than a 110k car.

GT3 has:

35 more HP
9K redline
dry sump and internal engine upgrades
PDK-S
RWS
forged not cast wheels
bigger brakes
adjustable suspension
aero

All for an extra $16K. Seems like a bargain to me.

No doubt a very nice car, but as with the other GTS cars (997, Boxster and Cayman, and Cayenne), it's an enhanced S with some extra kick and sizzle, never meant to be GT3 lite.

And while the GTS package is perhaps a good value for someone who planned to get an S, I still think the GT3 is best value overall in a 991. Mike's list is good, and several more things can be added to it.

I agree. The GT3 is the best value in the 991 range.

Again Porsche does best what Porsche does best : make money on options. So I guess which is a better value depends on the person that's ordering it. Personally, just as if I was ordering a GT3,a GTS would be a no options car. CL delete if possible and Manual transmission. That will probably get me right around 114K $. Now,if I wanted PDK,the GT3 would've definitely been a better option than the GTS for 20K more!
